CHAPTER FOUR: LATE NIGHT TALKING

Ivory has always been a mediocre student, not bad, but definitely not outstandingly good. Now with the change of schools, Ivory feels as it was her cue to step up a bit. Especially with Weems encouraging her to find some extracurricular activities to do, something she never even thought of at her old school. The woman made Ivory stay back after their trip to the town primarily to apologise for Wednesday's behaviour, which was appreciated, but not needed. Not from the woman who has been nothing but kind to Ivory anyways.

Later that night Ivory finds herself in the green house once again, going over a few things she was taught and trying to find her magic somehow. Not being able to do something with it, after finding out about her origin, is what frustrates the girl the most so she took her aunt's words to heart and studied every free minute that she had. It was late in the evening and Yoko sent the blonde at least 20 texts asking if she should wait up for her, which Ivory declined in the end, because she was set on staying in the green house for a while longer.

After discussing it with Ms. Thornhill, the girl came to the green house a lot after curfew. She was able to concentrate better in the evening, it's always been like that, so it made Ms. Thornhill accept the girls request quite easily, since she wouldn't be occupying the space after 8PM. At least that's what Ivory was told.

"Stupid plant. No, sorry...", Ivory corrected herself immediately, feeling bad for letting her frustrations out on it, even if it is indeed just a plant. She touched one of it's leafs softly and let out a sigh. Ivory thought of the possibility of herbal healing being to difficult as a first task, so she read a bit more about auras and how she'd be able to read other people. Her mother told her that it was the first thing she learned, when they talked on the phone, so the girl was hopeful.

It was difficult to test it alone, so Ivory made a mental note to try out the different techniques she read about the following day. For now she settled on skipping through another book on herbal healing, putting sticky notes on sides she wanted to re-read or ask her aunt about on their next session with Principal Weems. The girl opened one of her pastel coloured highlighters with a pop, keeping the cap between her teeth as she read through the pages and highlighted some of the notes she already took.

Someone cleared their throat nearby and it almost made the girl jump out of her skin. The highlighter she was holding fell out of her hand and right onto the open pages, making the girl curse at the fact that she just ruined school property. Ivory guessed the book was old and held a lot of worth. A string of curse words escaped her lips as she tried to wipe it off the page, but to no avail.

"That's a lot of foul words for a fairy, aren't you supposed to be graceful or something?", Ivory looked up at the owner of the voice, who was now stood in front of the table she was seated at. It was the same guy from a few nights prior, his pale skin contrasting with his dark hair, a smug expression adorning his face. It wasn't even a smirk, it was simply the way he held himself and the expression on his face, that made Ivory believe he was cocky.

"And who are you to tell me what I'm supposed to be like?", if Yoko could hear Ivory she would be proud, the blonde was sure of it, but in that moment she was alone with the unknown guy and she was rethinking her words as soon as his expression turned stone cold. It was as if the mysterious guy just remembered something and suddenly his cocky and slightly playful demeanour changed into a stone cold one. He ignored her comment and walked up to the front of the table the girl was seated at, turning the book in front of her around so he could read the title.
