Awakening

The room was dark even though it was 9 AM. The furniture of the room consisted of a ruby red sofa with black arms a twin-sized bed fitted with black sheets and two ruby red pillows , a work table with a fairly average laptop on it, a black office chair, a red wardrobe with a mirror on it and two thick pitch black curtains that let little to no sunlight in. The table was very messy there were notebooks of various courses and some coloured pens  scattered on it. Even though he would've preferred his room to be tidy. The dark was his choice. In a way darkness soothed him and calmed his thoughts. The warmth he so desperately sought after was silenced in the dark. So he could focus more on the important things like thinking about studying. He never did study though he just sat there and thought he should study. He was not always this way. He used to be the bright sunshine in world full of pain. Maybe deep down he missed being that way. But it was taken away from him mercilessly in a long long sequence of events that left him a husk of his former self.

Suddenly the door rang and the deafening silence of the room was gone and he came to his senses again.  He walked to the door and looked at the person at the entrance through the telecom screen and to whispered to himself "I didn't order anything I wonder who this is.". It was a kid who probably mistakenly rang his door instead of somebody else's. So he opened the front gate via the telecom. Now with him being out of the bed he couldn't just lay back he noticed how hungry he was. But first he had to take a shower because he didn't do so in days.

He walked to the bathroom and looked at mirror on top of the sink. He had raven black hair which was short and greasy. His eyes were a very dark brown which would look almost black unless it was under direct sunlight. He was pale and fairly tall. He didn't like his looks but he was definitely above average. While taking his clothes off he noticed how much weight he had lost though this hurt him a little it wasn't that big of a deal. He than took his shower and dried himself off.

While blowing his hair he heard a faint echo of his ringtone. He immediately  went to check his phone. It was Dorothy his friend and also classmate. She was a very kind and caring person and even though he and Dorothy wasn't very close she would call him to check him up. He thought this was a nice gesture but phone calls gave him anxiety. He built up his courage and answered the phone.

"Hi Dorothy, How are you doing." He said.

"I'm fine Eli, But I am worried about you. This is the third time you missed a lecture this week." Dorothy said.

"I know but I have things going on right know thank you for your concern."

"I understand, but if you keep this up your grades will be affected. Don't say anything just, just."

"Just what?"

Dorothy hang the phone up.

Eli felt conflicted. He was curious about what she wanted to say. Dorothy has always been this way. Even though he wasn't close with her she was always trying to look after Eli.
