At least his dad likes me
"Val, your woman is here," Jihoon announced as he walked over to the table to watch Val and his dad play chess.
"Dalia, I hope my wife didn't scare you off?" David seemed like a kind man, more accepting than his wife, even though I had known that man for less than 10 minutes I could tell that he would approve of Val's relationship.
"No sir, her reaction was quite normal, my mom went on my brother's first date when he was 15 and he was traumatized. He never introduced another woman to our parents again. Even my older sister had much easier." I pulled up another chair beside Val.
"Oh, you have siblings, and you don't have to call me sir, you can call me David."
"Yeah, an older brother and sister."
"Her brother is Kimani," Val said and a look of recognition crossed David's face.
"Now I see the resemblance, wow how is Kimani by the way, your brother is extremely talented."
"Well...Wednesday was the first time I saw him in three years, and from what I saw he looked okay?" I forced a smile on my face, I knew nothing about my brother even when I thought we were close, it was as if we were still strangers.
"Oh, I hope you reach out to him, it must be a sign from God to reconnect-"
"Dad"
David looked at Valentino, I knew what he was doing and I appreciated it, but his dad was right maybe I could help my brother and "rekindle" our sibling relationship.
"It's okay Val, your dad is right"
"Well, thank you, Dalia, remind him from time to time."
I chuckled, "I will"
"Dalia, you know don't have to if you don't want to"
"I know"
"Let the woman be Val" Jihoon winked at me
Valentino rolled his eyes, "I thought you had a study group tonight, why are you still here?"
"I canceled"
"Why? I swear sometimes I feel like my sister is wasting her money sending you to school," David passed a disapproving look at Jihoon.
"For your information uncle, she is not paying for school, I get scholarships, plus I had better things to do tonight than study." I felt his gaze on me
"Jihoon, you have scholarships that should be your sole reasoning for studying," David folded his arms, and his facial expressions grew long.
"I get by just fine, I am a natural-born genius," he grinned
"Sure thing," Val snickers
"I am, how do you think I get straight As all my life,"
"You slept with your teachers"
"Surprisingly never, but if the opportunity ever arises I won't say no."
"Jihoon," David scolded,
"I'm kidding,"
"No Professor in their right mind would sleep with you, it goes against all ethical codes," I commented
"Princess you have a lot to learn, there are numerous student-teacher relationships in almost every school." he got up from his seat, he grabbed a beer from the small cooler in the room. "Do you want anything to drink?"
"I am not dumb Jihoon, I am just saying it goes against ethical codes for anyone to be involved with you, whether that is platonically or romantically. And a bottle of water is fine."
