Part 8: Thank God!

Valeria: None of us are medics!

Rudy: I know a little bit of medical stuff.

Carmen: *Giggling* Am I dying?

Rudy: what's your type, Carmen?

Carmen: Strong, dark hair, name starts with V and ends in Aleria.

Rudy: No! your blood type!

Carmen: Don't yell at me, young man! I am your superior.

Rudy: c'mon Carmen focus! Valeria! you talk to her maybe she'll answer you.

Valeria: Carmen...I need you to focus ok? you are losing blood quickly and we need to help you.

Alejandro: wait! Carmen? is there anything on you that can help you?

Valeria: Focus Carmen.

Carmen: * Heavy coughing* back butt pocket. smack my ass while you're down there!

Alejandro: Carmen!

I felt Valeria move her hands to my back pocket. she pulled out the shot I keep for emergencies only. It had blue liquid in it.

Carmen: *Giggling* I hate needles!

Alejandro: stay still! ok, Carmen?

I kept giggling and I couldn't really feel my body if I'm being honest. Typically this is not how someone reacts to a gunshot wound, but over the years with all of the drugs that have been inserted into my body they activate when I'm in pain. That's why I'm so giggly right now.

Rudy had to zip my suit down so he could get to my arm. Rudy aligned the needle in the crease of my arm. He knows how much I hate needles so he had Soap and Ghost hold my body down while Valeria held my head in place.

Carmen: No no no needles. Please no needles.

Valeria: I'm sorry Carmen but we have to.

Rudy stuck the needle in my arm and I was screaming bloody murder and crying. My veins lit up an electric blue color as the serum was pushed into my body. I could feel the liquid burn as it moved through my veins down to my bullet wound.

Oksana: Carmen! we're here.

Ghost and soap pointed their guns toward the door immediately.

Mary: stand down! I'm a medic.

Oksana: we're The Red Berets and we brought friends.

Mary came over to me and fully took off my suit. she took in the color of my veins realizing what I injected into myself. She quickly got to work. The serum didn't do anything to heal the wound at all. I could see the boys I grew up with, but I couldn't move or speak to say hi. The serum managed to numb my body but I simply just didn't have enough energy to speak.

Valeria: what is the injection we used?

Mary: A very strong paralyzer. Carmen is immune to most things like poisons, tranquilizers, paralyzers, and drugs. This is about the only thing that can take away her pain. alright, she's all sewn up. Oksana, Can you hand me my small med bag?

I saw Oksana throw Mary her small med bag that she only uses on me. It is a combination of different drugs that are strong enough for me to use. she pulled out a neon green syringe and hooked a needle onto it.

Ghost: what's in the syringe?

Mary: sleeping drugs. we gotta get her to sleep so she can heal herself. she might be out for a couple of days.

I felt Ghost lift me while Alejandro put the shirt he was just wearing onto me. Mary stuck my arm with the needle and I whimpered.

Valeria: I know cariña. It'll be okay. I'll see you when you wake up.

I felt my eyes closing slowly until everything was blank.

~Third person POV~

Ghost: what are we goin' to do about Graves?

Alejandro: we have to wait until Carmen is awake to know for sure Hermano. She always has a plan and she was on Graves ass since the moment we met him so I'm sure she knows something.

soap: Who are you guys?

Oksana: we're The Red Berets and these 12 guys behind us are the guys Carmen grew up with.

Mary: Jay, Ethen, Spence, Dylan, Cameron, Even, Noah, Joseph, Adrian, Owen, James, and Ben.

Alejandro: You guys are her real brothers?

Ethen: No not all of us. Only Cameron, Spence, and I are her real brothers. we were all taken when we were young.

Spence: Ethen and I are twins and then Cameron and Carmen are twins. She's been looking for us and we finally decided to show up. We didn't expect to meet you guys under these circumstances.

Rudy: she's talked about us?

Cameron: we hear a lot about Alejandro and Rudy from Mary and Oksana.

Alejandro: Im Alejandro.

Rudy: My name is Rodolfo but everyone calls me Rudy.

Mila: We should all get some sleep. If we're going to take down Graves and Shepherd we need to be well-rested.

Alejandro: I agree. There are rooms down the hall some of you guys pair up at least 3 to a room and the rest of us will sleep in the living room.

Rudy: Alejandro. Let's move Carmen to a room so she's more comfortable.

Soap: I'll help.

Soap, Alejandro, and Rudy carried Carmen to the last room down the hall. Valeria trailed behind them.

Rudy: why are you following us?

Valeria: can I sleep with her?

Rudy: fine, but be gentle.

Valeria: I will. I promise.

Valeria took of her vest and got into the bed with Carmen. She eventually fell asleep under the warm comforter and the sound of Carmen's breathing.

~morning- Carmen's pov~

I woke up with my heart beating super fast. The only thing I remember was getting to the safe house. I felt something heavy on top of my body. I looked down and I saw Valeria. Her head was laying on my chest and her arm was laid on top of my tummy. I immediately calmed down and stared at her to take in all of the details on her face. Her eyes were closed and her breathing was steady. I lifted my hand up to trace her nose and her jaw. When my fingers brushed on top of her nose her face scrunched up. Her eyes fluttered open. And she looked up at me.

Valeria *gasp* Carmen. Thank god! You're awake!
