Lily opened her eyes and felt warm. It was bright? She thought. The sun? She sat up and noticed she was, in fact, outside. In the middle of a field filled with yellow sunflowers. "Where am I?" She stood up and turned in a full circle. "Hello!?" She shouted. There was nothing in the distance, all around her just, nothing but this field. This makes no sense. I should be in my room. I should be with "Kiara!" This has to be a dream, she thought. That's when she heard someone. She looked around to see Athena running at her full speed.
"Lily! Run!" Athena shouted, still sprinting at her, sword in hand.
"What?" That's when a chill went down her spine. She turned around and saw her. "Kiara?" She looked different. Her red hair was now black, slicked back. Blue and hazel eyes were dark red. She looked around and saw the sunflowers now covered in blood and ash. She turned back to Kiara who was smirking before revealing her hidden blade and impaling Lily.
Lily shot up from bed, screaming and clutching her stomach.
"Whoa!" Kiara shouted, coming back from the bathroom. She jumped on the bed onto her knees and held Lily in her arms. "What's going on?"
Lily was shaking. What just happened?
"Lily?"
She was brought back from her thoughts and looked up at Kiara. Her warm eyes met hers. "I'm sorry, I just had a dream."
"Must've been pretty bad. Are you okay?"
Should I tell her? "Nothing really, I just, saw Charlie and it got a little violent." Starting whatever they are with a lie. Great.
"I'm sorry Lil. It's okay though. We will get through this, together. We all will."
"Yeah." She smiled. "I'm going to go freshen up. Meet you downstairs for breakfast?"
"Of course. Are you sure you'll be ok? That was kind of intense."
"I promise."
"I love you."
There is no way that dream meant anything, just Charlie trying to get in my head. This is Kiara, "I love you too." She smiled before shutting the door.
Kiara got to the bottom of the stairs and saw Athena. "Hey, sis!"
Athena looked up to see the redhead grinning ear to ear. "You sound chipper. Have a good night?"
"That is an understatement."
"Okay weirdo. Have you seen Lily? Jordan has been looking all over for her."
"She's in her quarters."
Athena eyed her sister, fully knowing why she looked so happy. "Ki!"
Their conversation was interrupted by shouting coming from the outside. "Front gates!"
The two sisters looked at each other before running out to the gate.
Lily finished washing up. She noticed the water ripple. "What?" Then a loud boom echoed in the air and shook the floor, sending her to the ground.
"Lily!" Jordan shouted.
"I'm here!" She yelled while getting up. She saw the older woman burst through the door, blood covering the right side of her face. "What is happening." She ordered.
"Charlie."
"What are you doing here?" Kiara spat. She was in a loose chokehold by Danni.
Charlie sighed. "Isn't it obvious? I'm here for you silly. You escaped and hurt poor Kevin in the process. I couldn't let that slide."
"You can't have her!" Athena shouted.
"And who might you be?" Charlie spat back.
"The person that will kill you if you even touch a hair on her head."
"Wow! You're intense. I love that. You remind me a lot of my daughter. Maybe I'll just take you instead. You held your own against my troops. I could use that."
"No!" Kiara shouted.
"Shush darling, the grown-ups are talking." Charlie took a deep breath. She studied the brunette before her. "You look a lot like the old Queen of the Delgado Kingdom. I will never know what my daughter saw in her." Then it dawned on the woman. "Oh. How peculiar. They had two children together. Hmmm." She eyed Athena up and down. "Looks like I am taking you both."
Before she could give the order, an arrow came flying and impaled her arm. "Aaahhh!"
"Like hell you are," Roux said, aiming another arrow at her. Before she could shoot another, she was tackled by Kevin.
"You!" Charlie seethed while pulling the arrow out. She rushed over to the woman. You are Krea's sister."
"The one and only bitch." She spat.
Charlie took a deep breath. "Take Kiara and this one. Leave whatever is left of this place. And Lily, wherever you are hiding. I wish you luck. Running a Kingdom is no easy task. I'll see you soon darling."
Lily watched as they dragged Roux and Kiara away. She tried to get up to do something, but Jordan stopped her. "We can't win this."
"We can't do nothing! They can't just rush in and take Kia-" she stopped herself. "And take whoever they want."
"You are more important than anyone here."
"How could you say that? She just took your family!"
"I am doing my duty. I promised your mother I would look after you."
"Did you say the same to Krea about Kiara?" Jordan was silent. "We have to get them back Jordan."
Athena was released from her magic hold after they were long gone. She looked around and saw Lily walking down the steps. She saw red as she stormed up to her. "Where were you!" She shouted. "She's gone because you were too scared to show your face!"
"Athena."
"Don't! Just don't." She said before turning and heading in the direction she last saw her sister.
"Where are you going?" Lily shouted.
"To find my family!"
Lily wanted to follow. But her duties were here. She needed to figure out how to win this war. "Start rebuilding the gate!" She ordered before disappearing through the front door to the castle, wiping a tear away. She couldn't protect the woman she loved, but if anyone can find her, it is Athena she thought.
"Lily slow down." Jordan started.
"Don't! Just, give me some time. I will call for you when a plan is in motion. Understood."
"Yes ma'am." She watched as the queen walked off. "I'm sorry." She said to herself and going to help rebuild.
