CHAPTER 35

He retracted his hand and opened his eyes waiting for his ge ge to open his eyes.

Lan Xichen opened his eyes and instantly he could see a change, he saw his little brother's worry behind his stoic face. He could see him folding his little fist because he was anxious, but most of all, he saw the love his brother had for him. All this just by looking at him, he didn't have to say anything, he wouldn't have to worry about his little brother's fears, happiness sadness, excitement and all that because he would see it just by looking at him. The one thing his 4years old brother kept for himself, for his privacy was his thoughts and Lan Xichen was more than happy with what he was given.

He held Lan Zhan's hand and helped him stand up as he did and " Wanji...let's go home" he was smiling from ear to ear, no more sadness in his eyes as his baby brother had made it easier for him to take care of him. When they reached home, they found Lan Qiren in the meditation room and they went to greet him. He gave a soft nod as they joined him in meditation, Lan Xichen looked at Lan Zhan and asked him " Wanji, do you want me to play you a calming music right now or later? " It looked like he got the answer because Lan Xichen sat in his meditating posture as they both became quiet and meditated. It was a fulfilling 3hour long meditation and they were all in better moods after that. They stood up and went to have their dinner and Lan Xichen kept looking at his brother, lovingly and adoringly.

Three years later, Lan Zhan was still doing great in everything but by then he was the best at what he did, that was everything. One thing that never changed was his bullying and Lan Xichen had learned that Lan Zhan didn't want him to take actions about it so he let him be with the exception that he would stand up for himself, which he never did but he was doing good because they he wasn't bothered by it. As he grew, so did his manners, he was the most respectful child who liked to help everyone as long as they didn't touch him, he was fine, the elders would praise him more and more by his endurance and patience but they were to find out how much strength he had in 3 years time when he would be eligible to take part in the sword naming ceremony which was done when they were 10years old.

Lan Qiren came back from the clan duties and sat the boys down and said " Xichen, I want you to accompany me to Jiang sect tomorrow, it is our monthly meeting and you have to be there since I'm holding the position for you. So be ready by the morning. And don't worry about attending classes, I already told the elders about our trip" " uncle, Wanji is coming with us right? " ( 4 second Silence) " no, Wanji still has to study, I don't want him to be left behind with his studies. Besides... were going for a meeting not a wedding " Lan Xichen looked at Lan Zhan and he saw his eyes sparkle and he knew he wanted to go with them, he called his name. "Wanji..." Lan Zhan looked at his brother and Lan Xichen could see sadness in his eyes as they became glassy with tears that would never shed and that, broke Lan Xichen's heart as he became courageous to help his brother out.

He thought what was the reason for him to have the abilities his brother gave him if he can't use then. Then he sighed " uncle Wanji wants to come with us, and I don't feel comfortable leaving hin with people he doesn't know. He is still bullied at school and things could be worse if we aren't here to help him. Beside...leaving him with anyone isn't an option because you might send him to the house of the only person who started all this. I think we should bring him along, I will take care of him" Lan Xichen kept his fingers crossed as he spoke too much with his uncle and it was the first time he did so. Lan Qiren kept stroking his now almost new beard and it looked like he was thinking about the matter, which was a relief for Lan Xichen as he knew he was right.

" Ok we will bring Wanji along, but you have to take care of him. The meeting will take a day and we will be not be coming back until the next day, Xichen go prepare prepare and help your brother aswell. Yungmeng is not as cold as here in the mountains and Lotus Cove has a big lake so make sure you bring that bug oil for Wanji....alright let's go to bed, we will leave first thing tomorrow morning." " Yes uncle, thank you" Lan Qiren" hhm" as he hummed his answer while standing up and heading to his room. The boys also went to their room and immediately after closing the door Lan Zhan hugged his brother, it was such a big and tight hug and it was the first time he ever did that and he was surprised. He knew he was missing something and he had to ask.

" Wanji...why do you want to go to Lotus Cove with us? Is there something in Lotus Cove you need? If it's the lotus seeds then I would have bought them for you already--" He cut himself from finishing as he saw something else in his Wanji's eyes "Wanji...is there something else that makes you want to go there? I..is..is it a.about your...soulmate!" He said the last part quickly because he felt that maybe Lan Zhan didn't want to talk about it, if he didn't then he wouldn't force him to tel him. Lan Xichen was dying in anticipation as he had tightly closed his eyes waiting for his brother's answer but when it didn't come opened his eyes and looked at Lan Zhan. Lan Zhan was looking at him as if he was not even blinking. Then Lan Xichen saw something, something that made him gasp loudly as he covered his mouth with both hands so that his uncle couldn't hear. He was in shock!
