It was 6 PM when a knock on the Aftons door was made. William opened the door.
"Hello Henry," He said with a smile, widening the door "Come inside"
"Hey" Henry smiled nervously back stepping inside and taking his shoes off.

Light but still loud footsteps were being heard coming downstairs still the figure showed himself to be none other than Michael.

"Uncle Henry! " He ran up to Henry hugging him as Henry unwillingly hugged back.
"I thought you were dead! " He exclaimed, running up to hug him.
"Dead? Where'd you get that from? " He softly chuckled, wrapping his arms around Michael and stroking his dark brown hair which could pass by as black at that point.
"Well if you've been rotting in your house all this time, I wouldn't be surprised if people thought you *were* dead. " William replied looking down at Michael and then back at Henry who was already glancing back at William.
"I guess" He shrugged letting go of Michael and following William to the kitchen.

They both sat themselves down on either side of the table. A hot teapot already beside them and cups for the two.
"So.. What triggered you to suddenly phone me? " Henry asked, already helping himself to the tea.
"Well... It's just been a while you know? " He slightly laughed, focusing more on Michael getting a glass of water before waddling back upstairs and back to Henry.
"Right... What did I miss then? " The blondie said Intrguied, both his hands on the boiling tea seemingly unaffected.
"Nothing much if I must be honest, Michael is being called a murderer less now at least. " William shrugged.
"A murderer? You didn't tell me that in the first place, I guess the entire situation was... Traumatizing, especially for him"
"Yeah well, it was gonna happen one way or another" He responded casually as if he didn't really care for their deaths and how it even happened, as long as he wasn't getting disadvantages, he couldn't give two shits.  Henry slightly frowned at the hinted selfishness the man showed in himself but continued to act clueless when it came to doing so.

"About the... Remnant, William, what's up with all that? " Henry asked, wanting little to no interaction with him but still wanting to know what he was up to and the discovery of it was rather impressive.

"Ah, always right to the point, isn't it, Henry? " He grinned reaching for a thick leather book with a red ribbon marking one of the pages and gently placing it down, pushing it to Henry. "Remnant... " He leaned back on his chair. "It's like this.. Liquid substance that can trap human souls into metal, for.. However strong it is. " He explained in a rather slow and mischievous tone. Henry picked up the book,  flipping through the pages of all of his studies and the exact date it was written on. Some were more detailed than others, some written as if he didn't have time to live; others were perfectly written down - even in cursive -

"So how did my daughter become your experiment for this? " He asked. A simple liquid that can trap souls into some metal, how was that ever interesting or worth the kill?

"It can potentially allow you to control animatronics, Henry"

"Control.. I'm sorry what? "

Everything didn't add up, and the way he explained it didn't help either.

"If you die, your remnant can enter the metal inside an animatronic, well at least ours 'cause that's what our material and metal are. It's like possessing it. "

"What's the point in possessing it"

"It can keep you 𝙖𝙡𝙞𝙫𝙚. As long as you still have remnant you can live for however long it lasts. Maybe even immortal. Henry, I've discovered the key to Immortality, don't you see? " He smiles, looking for Henry's approval on the project he's been working on for months.

"I do but.. What's the point? " He closed the book, pushing it back to William as his fading smile was palpable.

"The point? The point- The point is living forever of course! " William said in a panicked manner.

"You haven't thought this through, have you, William? Living forever is more of a curse in my opinion. "

"A.. Curse? " William raised his eyebrows.

"Everything and everyone will die all around you, things will become boring, and you'd probably be stared at weird for being 432, if humanity even lasts that long. "

"W-well like I said, remnant can differ depending on the person you've harvested from. It doesn't have to be forever" William could sense Henry wasn't on his side, and solutions were needed to become up on the spot.  He already had a bad reputation for killing his daughter and him not agreeing with this was a lot riskier than it already was.

Henry sighed "What are your intentions here then, let's just get this thing over with. " He wanted everything to be cut short, any excuse to just get out of that house before his sanity loses.

"I don't know... I hoped you would have joined me, Henry"

"Joined you!? I can't support you on your stupid murders and you expect me to tag along on this! "

"Yeah, I guess" William shrugged biting his cheek.

"You've busted it. You know you have. " Henry pressed his hands onto the table to stand himself up.

"I'm sorry, I truly am, especially about Charlie. I know I'm the asshole who had the choice to murder her and did. " He blurted out, pausing here and there to think of his choice of words. It surprised Henry to even hear the word sorry from him, always acting like he was allergic to it.
"Sorry doesn't resurrect people from the dead, does it? " Henry glared at him. A little sign for his so-called 'meaningful' apology won't manipulate him.

"Remnant..does" William let out a small smirk fighting to hide it.

"You said it allows you to stay alive or control some animatronic when your soul goes into the metal or something. " Henry said with a curious tone.

"Well if you still have it you can still do the same process, didn't say it had to be all at once. Oh, right you want your daughter back or something? "

"Well no, if she's already resting there's no need to drag her back."

"So if you knew before you would? "

"William where are you going with this?" Henry frowned.

"Well, surely you'd do anything for your loved ones. You've said it yourself. " William smirked.
