We woke to blinding sunlight and ancient ruins. We woke to unknown places and sundry people. We woke to confusion and terror. Then the Goddess appeared surrounded by a halo of light and warmth; she spoke in a reverent yet soft voice which calmed our nerves.

"Climb," she commanded, "Climb the tower, and at the top, you shall receive one wish. Climb the tower and leave nothing behind. Climb to save yourself and your loved ones. Climb."

Her voice commanded us to follow, so we climbed the tower. Out of fear for our lives, Out of fear for our loved ones, we climbed out of fear and pure desperation. We climbed the tower through monsters and demons through mazes and dungeons through loss and regret. Yet once we finally reached the top, the Goddess spoke, "Congratulations on completing your tutorial. Now defeat the demon king, and I shall reward you."

We were outraged, yet for fear of our now pathetic lives, we fought. Blood stained our bows, swords, and spears. It ran down our skin and sullied our clothes. It flowed in rivers and collected in puddles. Yet our blades sank their teeth into the flesh of the mortal demon king, and with his last words, he thanked us.

Thus as the Goddess promised, she appeared to grant out wish, "Congratulations, heroes, what is your wish?"

To that, we responded, "send us back to our world to our families and friends."

"Impossible. Your world was destroyed long ago, so your wish is impossible after all, I cannot turn back time. So what is your desire?"

To that, we responded, "bring back our lost comrades who died in the tower."

The Goddess said, "your friends are long dead. I cannot bring back the dead. What is your wish?"

To that, in udder desperation and defeat, we responded, "to ***." And to that, the Goddess grinned.
