Fallen Tree Friends: Malware

The Dreadful Park

East of Happy Tree Land.
Usually, a fantastic place to spend time with friends at the big amusement park. Many families arrive here to have fun or rest from exhausting days.
This magical place of happiness and wonders has turned into an eerie and frightful park.
Rollercoasters are destroyed, the entry is ripped apart and dozens of other attractions are unusable. The whole park has become a giant liminal space since there is nothing here. It seems like this place wasn't visited for a very long time. What has happened?
Flippy and Splendid are speechless, too. It is pretty unexpected for them to regard an "amusement" park that isn't what it's supposed to be.

"So, this is an amusing park? The greatest one, in the whole of Happy Tree Land? It looks empty and obliterated,"  Splendid says in pure confusion.
"Yes, it is. We should keep an eye out. Perhaps there are still people around here,"  Flippy remarks.
"Right."

"I still wonder who the so-called owners of this 'new' Land are," Splendid thinks.
"Indeed. We have to get to know them, eventually. Maybe we will find anything related to them in this place. What do you say?"
"I bet we will,"  Splendid agrees with Flippy.
"We have to explore this place, as well. But this time, let's make it quick. I don't want it to be like last time,"  Flippy says.
"I understand...It would be a shame if it lasted as long as in the city,"  Splendid announces in a more sighing tone, "but where should we start to search around? This park is enormous."
"We should split up again. One of us scans the attractions, the other one rooms and area,"  Flippy suggests.
Splendid sighs, "Understood. But who does what?"
"I think you scan the attractions while I investigate the other areas."
"Why do I have to scan the attractions?"  Splendid sighs again in annoyance.
"That's because you're perfectly capable of doing the job. Remember that you can easily fly and scan around the attractions pretty quickly,"  Flippy says as he chuckles.
"Fair point. All right, don't get witnessed, Flippy."
"You can count on it, Splendid."
Before both of them go to skim the areas, Splendid thinks for a second. He turns around and regards Flippy who is about to leave. Flippy, on the other hand, looks at Splendid with confusion.
"Is something wrong?"  Flippy asks in curiosity.
"That crystal you gave me at the beginning... Where did you get it from and why don't you have one for yourself? I just didn't find the perfect moment to ask you this question."
Flippy proceeds to sigh. "I can't tell you yet, Splendid. I will once I am ready to do that. You have to forgive me, for now."  When he said that, he proceeded to scan the area.
Splendid, left with worry and confusion, walks off as well. He knows something must be going on. He wonders why Flippy doesn't tell him this information, but, he decides not to ask for a second time just yet. He will wait until Flippy is ready to tell him the truth.

"It's always dark. Time never seems to keep going, we never seem to get older. The weather cycle continues, but we never see the sunshine. Is this a nightmare we live in? Is it all going to end? I can't promise but hope," says Flippy to his mind as he scans the area.
"This gruesome Malware has caused a lot of damage and pain: mental pain, physical pain, everything. The people were once so happy, now they are all hollow and obey the dark. The dark that's the Malware. I have not seen any of our past allies yet, I hope we will be on our way."
Flippy proceeds to walk along a big puddle, thinking to himself. While walking, he keeps looking around for more clues but hasn't found any yet.
On his way, he stumbles upon a poster that is lying on the floor covered in water. It is barely visible to read what is on it, but Flippy manages to.
"'We will rise upon this world and turn it into a better one. We will fulfil any wish you may have. All it takes is one click..."
There is a button underneath the poster. It seems like it can be pushed.
"This is weird. I thought this is a poster. Why can I do things on it? I don't understand."  Flippy's mind fills up with many unanswered questions.
"I wonder what else this Malware offers. But, this 'poster' looks like Adware. It sounds very suspicious to me."
Flippy picks the weird poster up for future use. He continues scanning the area, but he doesn't find anything. So, he enters the first room he passed.
"I thought this is a park. It doesn't look like one to me at all. Why are there so many chains? Who is the one responsible for this?"
"This place doesn't offer me anything else. So, next."  He exits the room and goes to the one on the other side. This one seems empty. There are only black stains on the walls, but nothing else is seen.
"How boring. Next one."  The next room he enters is entirely dark. It seemed like a void, but even then, there was nothing in there. Although, for some reason, there is an invisible ground he can step on.
"These rooms get stranger and stranger. Nothing is going on and I hate it,"  Flippy says in an angry but sassy tone.
However, the next room he enters offers him more. There are lots of barrels and boxes that are locked up.
"Now this seems more interesting,"  he continues.
"I wonder why these chains are locked up. I have seen them earlier in the city as well."
"Are they some kind of symbol of this new world?"
"Maybe,"  Flippy thinks to himself.
After he passes the locked-up barrels and boxes, he finds a small table lying on the ground. However, he feels that he accidentally stepped on something. He moves away and looks down to the bottom to see what he walked into.
"Weird, that's new. I haven't seen that yet...it seems so sticky. How disgusting,"  Flippy says in a more angry but confused tone. He seems to have stepped on black goo, although, he looks more closely at it.
"I thought this was regular goo. Why does it seem to glitch? And how do digital numbers in purple move there as if it was some type of digital world?"  He must persist in his examination of it... "The numbers and signs seem to flicker now and then. This is confusing me and I hate getting confused. I better inform Splendid about it."  Flippy leaves the area with a pout on his face, searching for Splendid.

"....There is nothing at all.."  Splendid says in a disappointed tone.
"I better check on what Flippy found out." 
Splendid flew off the rollercoaster he was scanning and noticed footprints on the ground that did not resemble Flippy's footprints.
"This seems strange and frightening."  Splendid is deep in thought.
"But I hope we get into a battle soon, I'm eager to fight off the Malware and save the world. After all, I made a promise to save things, no matter what."  Splendid puts his hand on his chest as he feels the wind blowing right through him.
"I will never let my guard down, I will protect everyone at any cost."
After Splendid finished his little monologue of hope, he returns to his current mission: finding Flippy.
"I wonder where he went, he's always a hard one to find or deal with,"  Splendid sighs but smiles simultaneously.
"I'm glad to be his friend. Together, we will win."  Splendid announces in a determined voice.
"Now, I should find him. He better not be in some kind of fight because he's hungry for those...I don't want to know what he is like in action."  Splendid chuckles for a little while as he is scanning for Flippy.
"I have a feeling that he might have gone into that small house over there."
Splendid enters the little house with caution, peeking from the door. Before he steps in completely, Flippy bumps into him and jumps a little.
"Splendid, you idiot. You scared me!"  Flippy says in an angry and scared tone.
Splendid proceeds to chuckle to mock Flippy.
"That was a hilarious moment for me. Well, I got slightly scared for a bit but you jumped which made me chuckle."
"I will kill you one day, Splendid. Prepare yourself,"  Flippy announces in a sassy tone.
Then, he proceeds to talk and tells Splendid about his findings.
"I was looking for you, ANYway. I wanted to show you something. I found something rather spooky but interesting in this room right there. Oh, and, there is one other interesting room we must investigate together."
"Lead me, Flippy. I'd like to know what the spooky but interesting thing is."
Both of them enter the small house, going through the dark hall and entering the room.
"Do you see right there? There's black goo on the ground with purple text...like digital numbers and signs."  Flippy points at the goo on the ground.
"This surely is interesting. It's best if we don't touch it, but, we could need it for solutions."
Splendid thinks of how they can take a little bit of this goo without really touching it.
Then, he proceeds to take a piece of hardwood and tries to put the goo into his test tube. After a bit of work, he manages to fill up his test tube with this goo.
"Wait, Splendid, where did you get the test tube from?"
"Well, I prepared myself earlier perfectly,"  Splendid smirks as he looks at Flippy who seems confused and irritated.
"Yeah, whatever. Now let's go to that one room."
"Sure, lead me, Flippy."
Flippy leads Splendid to the unscanned area. It's really dark and a lot of locked-up boxes are seen.
"It's a big room, so we better split up again and look for meaningful clues,"  Flippy says as he goes in one direction, leaving Splendid.
"It's always splitting up in his mind, isn't it? Typical for Malware Flippy...it seems."
"Oh well, I will just look over there, I guess."
