There she stood, tall as legend. If one were to attempt to tell the world of the Lady's real stature, few would believe them. Just as the young faces of the Special Forces team had a difficult time believing their own eyes. Their mouths agape in unison as they cranked their necks to look upward at her.
Her large black brimmed hat sat askew upon her head. Her hair is jet black, short and curly. Her skin was pale white. As pale as the Greek statues that aligned the walls in the room. The only thing about her that didn't look like an actress directly from a black and white 1940s noire film were her yellow eyes and dark red lipstick. The dress she wore, a vintage dress from the 40s era, ivory and slightly dingy but well maintained. Lastly, she wore a layered pearl necklace. A golden family crest pendent resting on her chest.
"My head chambermaid, Sofia, tells me that you wish to speak with me. About?" Lady Dimitrescu asked.
To say the Lady has a beautiful voice just wouldn't do. Smooth and velvety, a true mezzo soprano. Her melodic voice was enough to entrance anyone who had the privilege to hear it. And the Special Forces team was no exception.
"Lady Dimitrescu." Cassie began after a quick nudge from Jacqui, shaking her out of her trance. "I am Sargent Cage with the Special Forces team, US Military. We are hoping to speak with you about Mother Miranda."
Immediately the Lady's expression changed. From a semi warm and welcoming smile to a cold and calculating glare. Directed at the young blonde woman at the base of the stairs. As Lady Dimitrescu is very loyal to Miranda, anyone who dared to bring harm to her would be put to death. Without hesitation.
Not one to waste an opportunity, the Lady decided to take full advantage of the situation. As quickly as it left, that warm welcoming smile returned. With a barely visible wave of her hand, she signaled to Sofia exactly what she wanted, then swiftly turned and walked away.
"Follow me to the main hall please." Sofia said with a slight sigh. She had warned them or at least she tried. The Lady was not one to be trifled with. She hated knowing that very smile, that she had seen a thousand times before, was nothing more than a devious illusion. Sofia felt like a specious shepherd leading the lambs to the slaughter.
The main hall is beautifully decorated. An elegant classic baroque style. The floor, a black and white checker board pattern. A complete contrast to the rest of the room. To the left, a curve mahogany staircase leading to the second floor loft balcony. The same burgundy floor runner trailing up the stairs. Speaking of the balconies, the main hall has plenty of them. Three on each side of the second floor hallways that aligned both sides of the room. There was even a balcony half way up the staircase overlooking the main hall seating area.
Across from the stairs, a mahogany fireplace with a large oil painting of a woman in a pink dress above it. On either side of the fireplace, stood empty statues of armor. Just in front of the fireplace, sat two green arm chairs with flowery decorated puffed pillows in them. Across from the chairs, a brown leather love seat. Between them a coffee table with a tall silver vase upon it. The flowers tall and of a variety of colors. All of it sat upon a large square, dark blue Moroccan styled rug. Accented with gold Victorian flowers along its boarders. Another love seat sat under the staircase balcony, light blue with gold trimming.
The entire room is well decorated with large potted plants. Along the walls, waist high cabinets, made from mahogany with white marble tops and gold handles. The walls themselves were designed the same as the walls in the entrance hall with even more oil paintings. Likely of past family members that had lived in the castle long before Lady Dimitrescu and her daughters.
Above all of this, hanging from the center of the vaulted ceiling, an enormous golden three tiered chandelier. Adorned with crystals, candles and other ornaments.
