I woke up with a throbbing head, gashed arm and someone laying next to me. It was William. He was sleeping next to me in the back seat while Riley and Connor—sound asleep—had their own seats in the front. I looked at my arm which was bleeding bad, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s infected or something.

I pulled my red hair out of my face and looked out my shattered window, the sky was still dark so I had no idea what time it might even be but I figured I was probably out for 16 hours which would leave me at about 9-ish in the morning.

The car was—thankfully—right side up, but the roof was well dented in, and by the blood-filled scar on the right side of my head, I’d guess I got hit with some glass or the tumbling.

William started moving making me hope he’d wake up.

He rubbed his eyes getting up fully. He looked at me with a worried expression. “Are you alright?” He asked.

“Ummm, yeah. I’m fine.” I said, rubbing the side of my head.

“You went out after the first roll.”

“How many were there?” I asked.

“I think about 4. I went out after it was all over but it was rough, man.” He said smiling a little.

“Why are you smiling?” I asked. He looked down before answering

“…..You’re so cute sleeping.”

“What?” I asked. He never said anything like that. All I knew, we’re no more than just friends.

“Uh, sorry I just couldn’t….” He said shaking his head. “I missed you.” He said after a while of silence.

“Huh?” What is he talking about?

“After you left the pack.” He said. “I’ve missed you….a lot. Truthfully, I was worried about you.” Wow, I never knew he was so….. attractive when he talks about me. But do I really wanna be more than friends?

“Will,” I started but was cut off.

“WHAT!?” He burst out. “Why’d you leave!?” He accused.

“Will, I have my reasons!” I stated but he just can’t leave it at that….

“And what are those reasons?” He doesn’t get it.

“William, you don’t know what it’s like being so different!” I shot back.

“But I know what life is like without someone who’s different, Bria. And if you don’t know, I’m talking about you.” He added quickly before going on. “It’s not easy! I really want you around!” Is he getting angry?

“But I really don’t want to be around other wolves that can contain themselves. I can’t do that Will! I’m not even a wolf! How do you think it feels to be so different you’re no where near normal? I’ll tell you this, it’s not fun!” I spat back.

“Bria, even though you’re different does not mean you’re not wanted! I want you” The words slipped his lips before he could stop ‘em. “I, uh, I like having you around, I mean.” He said awkwardly.

I rolled my eyes and opened my door and stepped out of the car. We had landed in a ditch in the middle of what looked like nothing.

“Bria!?” I heard Will calling after me but I really don’t want to hear anything he’s got to say. I look left and right, but both ways look deserted but I figured if I was going to get anywhere I better try and avoid William, he’s strong and could sweep me off my feet easily, and the fact that I’m smaller will make it easier.
