My Boyfriend's Brother - Chapter 4

Hailee's POV

It's almost lunch and Kevin hadn't return yet. I kept calling him but he wouldn't answer , even my txt messages and I started to get worried.
"Have you contacted him?" Jack asked.
"He wouldn't answer me it just went straight to voicemail." I answered.

The frontdoor opened and It was Kevin. I ran towards him to hug him but he didn't acknowledge me , but he unwrapped my arms from him instead, like he was irritated. I frowned and just looked at him. All eyes on us as Kevin went straight to the kitchen to sit for lunch.
During the lunch it was quiet and awkward then Jenny started.
"Tonight we will go to the village for sight seeing." Jenny said happily. Everyone agreed but suddenly --

"I can't come?" Kevin said and I looked at him.
"Why not?" Jenny asked.
" I have plans tonight with my buddies back in high school. I can't come with you. Hailee will." He added blankly. Okay I need to talk to him.

After lunch Kevin went straight to our shared room , so I thought this would be my chance to talk to him. I went upstairs and I saw him lying on the bed with his phone.
"Babe."I started . He looked at me then went back to his phone.
"We need to talk." I added.
"Talk about what?" Kevin said. Seriously.
"Okay but first of all, where were you this morning?You didn't answer my calls or your dad's? We were worried about you. You should have said where you were going even atleast to one of us." I said. He stopped and put his phone down then he looked at me.

"Were you really? You don't care about me anymore Hailee. You don't even allow me to touch you."
He said.
"Okay so it's clearly about what happened this morning, that's why you're acting like this." I said looking straigh at him.
" Kevin we came here to spend time with your family , we're not here to fuck . Your family misses you and I want you to atleast give them your time. " I added.
" Whatever. I'm still not going. I'm going out with my boys. Just tell them I will be home late." He shut the door at my face and he left. He was so stubborn.

Time skipped

I told the whole family about Kevin that he really couldn't come , so it was just me joining the Eagerton Family tonight. The village wasn't that far so we just walk to get there. As we reached the village it was so beautiful, surrounded with lights , christmas trees and people taking pictures and buying presents.
We took a lot of pictures together and It was really fun.  Everyone seems to be enjoying it. We entered a shop to buy something and I saw a Christmas glass ball with glitters and a miniature church inside. It looks really cute. I was staring at it and Damian came beside me.
"You like that? Beautiful isn't it."Damian asked.
" Yes, I used to have one like this when I was little. It was one of my favorite Christmas gifts I received. I liked to stare at it until I fell asleep. But I accidentally broke it." I frowned remembering that moment.
"You want it?" He asked and I nodded. Damian looked at the tag and he grabbed it.
"Excuse me, we'll take this Sir please." He said and quickly took out his wallet.
"Damian no please don't. You don't have to pay for it. Leave it to me." I said and he just gave me a smile.
The man wrapped it in a paper bag and Damian paid for it. He took it and faced me.
"Merry Christmas Hailee." Damian said handing it to me. I was really shocked with his quick move.I looked into his eyes and I felt butterflies.
"Hailee , take it. It's yours now." He added. I slowly took it from his hands and looked at him.
"Thank you Damian. But you really don't have to do this." I repeated.
"Well, I just did. That will be my Christmas gift for you." He said and smiled so sweetly at me. I smiled back.
"Thank you Damian." I said and we both got out the store and walked together.

It was only me and Damian now. They were at the shop to buy stuff and I don't have much to buy so I just took a look around with Damian.
"What about you? You're not going to buy anything?" I asked Damian.
"Nope. I already bought something for them before I got home." He said and I nodded.
"So what's your story? Don't you have a girlfriend?" I started as we were walking around.
"Well It's been a year now since I've seen Jade." Damian said.
"But I already moved on from her. It was really hard for me remembering she dumped me for another guy." Damian added and I felt bad for him. Why would she dump him like that, he's a really nice man.
"Oh. Okay you don't have to tell me if you're not comfortable with it." I said.
"No, I told you I moved on so It's fine with me." He said.
"We've been together for 3 years. I was in the middle of my training and I don't have a job yet. She wanted us to get married that time. I loved her , I wanted to marry her too but I wasn't ready yet. We were young and I didn't agree with her decision of getting married right away. I told her that I wanted to finish my training first so I could get a stable job then we could get married. I don't want her to suffer , my training school cost much ,so if we get married ,  I wanted to provide for her financially. " Damian explained. "But she changed, she dated a rich man and just pushed me away. " he added.
"That was just selfish right. We can't just push someone to be married if he/she isn't ready yet." I said to him. What Damian went through was horrible.
"So after the break up I was determined to become successful, and here I am." Damian said .

"No wonder your family is really proud of you and so am I." I told him.
"Thanks Hailee." He smiled at me.

We were walking around and he bought us a hot choco because it was freezing. We went back to his family. We spent our night just talking ,eating and strolling around the village. I kept glancing at Damian and I couldn't help myself. I don't know but I feel comfortable around him, I could be myself.
Hours passed and Theo was carrying Annie as she fell asleep from playing , so it was time to go home. I checked my phone to see if Kevin texted me but I got none so I just put it in inside my coat.
