Rudolph's POV

The sun had just gone down when I had awoken from my sleep. I heard yelling coming from outside of my coffin. I lifted the hatch from above me and flew my way out. The yelling seemed to be coming from my father and Gregory. This happens a lot, since my brother wants to be more 'grown up' than he already is and wants to explore the world, but my father says otherwise. If we step at least a foot outside, my father would ramble on about how we could get stakes through our hearts because of mortals, but quite frankly, I was sick of it, so I went to check out what was going on.

"Father, I have been telling you! I am old enough to go out on my own, why won't you listen to me?!" Gregory yelled

"Son, I have told you at least a million times, it is way too dangerous out there! Even I barely go outside! I'm just making sure that you are safe!" My father snapped back at Gregory

I tried to ignore it, so I went near the entrance of the catacomb.

"And where do you think you're going?" My dad said to me

"No where, just the entrance, I won't go past it." I said

"Not at any cost should you go out, you understand me?" He said with a snarl
"Yes, father, I know. You gave only told me a thousand times." I said with a sigh.
I flew my way up the stairs and just sat down at the top near the entrance. I was way too tired for this to be happening. I heard a noise come from outside the door, and I slowly made my way towards it, hoping no one would see me. I opened the door as quietly as I could, looking back as I did so. I saw a young mortal running from something a few meters away from where I was. I couldn't tell what it was right away, but I soon saw it. It was rookery, and his 'assistant', Manny.

The other mortal tried to hide from them, but rookery soon cornered them.

"I dont know what it is you want from me! Just because I know what vampires are, doesn't mean I know where they are!" They yelled.

"Well, I have a sneaking suspicion that you have something to do with them! I always trust my gut" rookery said as his hit his stomach
"From what I can see, it seems like you should stop listening to it for a little while" the mortal said

Manny snickered and rookery looked back at him with an aggravated expression.

"Stop with your foolishness and tell me where they are!"  Rookery yelled as he lifted whatever was in his hand into the air, as if he were about to hit them.
I didn't want to just sit and watch this happen, but these are mortals! Who knows what they could do if they see me! Besides, I'm not supposed to go out anyways.
"I told you, I DONT KNOW!" the mortal screamed with great anger
"Fine. You had your chance!" Rookery said as he swung his weapon down at the mortal, and them just barely dodging the hit.

I didnt just want to sit and watch by now. I slowly opened the  door just enough so I could fit myself through it, making sure no one could see me. I hid behind a trees leaves nearby, so I had perfect vision of the scene. I soon realized what I was doing. I mean, I learned my lesson last time, because of what happened, but why am I doing this now? I hit my palm against my forehead, taking in a deep breath.

"Grab the crossbow, Manny! I dont Care if this little brat is a child, I will kill them if I have to!" Rookery said as he grabbed the other mortal by the arm.
"dont you think that's a bit much?" Manny said as he made his way towards the truck."
"oh, Manny, you'll learn that whatever it is you do, it will all pay off, starting with threatening this little vampire lover!" Rookery said as he snatched the crossbow from Manny's hand.
He pointed it at the mortal and yelled something that I couldn't quite hear. I felt a rush of adrenalin and I flew towards rookery and Made him drop the crossbow. I scooped up the mortal and flew as fast as I could and as far away as I could. I looked down at the mortal. Their eyes were wide and trying to gasp for air. I landed at a nearby Abandoned house, and I thought it was a little weird that it was just there conveniently, but I might as well go there. As soon as I put the mortal down, they fell on to the ground  and crawled backwards towards the house.
"please dont hurt me!" They said as they put their arms in front of their face to cover their face.
"hurt you? Dont worry, I won't, it's okay" I couldn't believe I was saying this to them I know I shouldn't, but what else was I supposed to do? They were already shaken up by rookery, I would just make it worse by doing what my dad would do.

"well how am I supposed to know that you won't try anything?" I stared to think for a moment.
"Uhm...I'm not sure how I can prove I won't, but If you can trust me... Ill show you that I won't do anything." I said as I put out my hand to help them up.
Their eyes softened for a moment. They hesitated for a moment, but soon took my hand and I helped them up.
"thanks" they said, with their eyes meeting mine. Their beautiful eyes were so mesmerizing. It took a second to take my eyes away, but I suddenly stopped and looked around to find out where we were. All that I knew is that we weren't exactly close to the catacombs.
"Do you know where we are?" The mortal said
"Not sure. But lets find out." I said.

ILL MAKE MORE, DONT WORRY😭
