As a singer, she had her first success in 2002 with the studio album Starlight. She achieved her international breakthrough in 2006 with her second album Promises, Promises. She broke numerous Billboard records and ten of her albums and nine of her songs reached number one on the American Billboard charts. Her third studio album Lovestruck won a Grammy in '2011. She was named to Time and Forbes' 2006 and 2024 Most Influential People lists. In 2019, Spotify named her the most streamed musician of the decade and with 98 billion streams, she is one of the most streamed artists of all time. She has received two Grammys, ten MTV Video Music Awards and holds 43 Guinness World Records.

In 2021 she became the founder and owner of the cosmetics company R.E.M. Beauty and in 2015, Grande launched a fragrance line. With over a million items sold (as of 2023), sales were $1 billion. Over 388 million people follow her on Instagram.
Addams began writing lyrics at the age of 12. To become a musician, she moved to Los Angeles when she was 16 years old. In 2001 she signed a songwriting contract with Sony/ATV Music Publishing and in 2002 a recording contract with Big Machine Records. Her debut album Louisa Addams in 2002 made her the first singer to co-write a platinum-selling US album.

Her mother, Abigail - Madison King, was initially a marketing executive and later a housewife. Her father Michael - Richard Addams is a financial advisor at Accenture. Her younger brother is the actor Jack Addams

Addams' parents also ran a small restaurant. Her maternal grandmother, Sebastian King, was an opera singer and inspired Addams in her early musical career. Addams dedicated the song Sebastian to her on her Third studio album - Pink Poison. On the previous album folklore she sang in epiphany, among other things, about the war traumas of her grandfather Logan Addams, who was deployed in the fight against Japan in the Second World War.
