The first rays of the sun gazed over the mountains and trees, lazily mixing blues and oranges and pinks to replace the dark night.
The wolfs tired eyes stared blearily at the sandy path. The grass around her gleaming in the morning sun, its metalic covering blocking movement as a gust of wind blew past.
Whisper sighed, dropping her head on her knees pulled to her chest, hugging herself.
Small patches of warmth burned into her fur through the mask, the coat, the shame. Sonics speech played through the mask, reminding her how she failed to save Tangle.
Whisper buried her face in her knees, the fear of never seeing the bubbly lemur with fur instead of metal suffocated her. The emotions greedy demands ripping sleep from her brain, taking air from her lungs, tearing a hole in her heart.
The world felt empty. It felt wrong, it was wrong.
Whisper heard a sound, a whimper, was that her? It must of been, no one else is awake at this hour other than Sonic, but he'd be racing the metal virus away.
Whisper looked up. Pink highlighted the clouds above her, the cloud casting over her with its heels in the ground forcing its sorrow apon her.
The world looked beautiful, orange hues painting the land and blending in the sky, small fluffy white clouds melting in the colours, twisting in the wind.
Its often said nice views look best with people you love, Whisper wondered if thats why she wasn't enjoying it like she used to. Without Tangle it all seemed grey.
Whisper rested her head back on her knees, eyes blinking shut slowly. A cold wind passed by her, and warm rays blanketed her, but it all felt the same.
Maybe they would find a cure for the virus, maybe she would never see Tangle again.
Maybe, now, in the soft rays of sun and gusts of cold air her mind would stop racing, exhausting itself to a halt.
The last thing Whisper heard before drifting off was the echo of Tangle, promising her friendship, promising her hand to hold, promising her shoulder to lean on.
And in return, Whisper had promised her her own heart.
