3rd person:

Y/n was a mostly good kid, About 12 at the time. They loved their family, even is they wanted to strangle them sometimes.

So finding out they were gone obviously hit them like a ton of bricks. Their extended family wasn't able to gain custody for a variety of reasons. And you know what that means...

They were going into the system. Great. They were put into a nearby orphanage until a suitable foster family could be found. Of course, other more normal children were taken to homes first. Leaving y/n in the dust.

It wasn't until they were nearly 3 years older that they finally were whisked away to a foster family- or rather just a foster dad. Yeah they were going to a two bedroom apartment with some 26 year old man.

When they finally came face to face y/n was met with a ridiculously tall man with shortish fluffy brown hair, sweet brown eyes and one heck of a forehead.

"Hey there kid, I'm Wilbur. You must be y/n"

"Yep. That's me" they smiled. "Hi"

They didn't know then but they'd soon be travelling all over Europe and America with Wilbur and his band. Or that Wilbur was a very popular streamer.

"Cmon. What do you want to eat? I'm ok with pretty much anywhere." He says, gesturing to the exit of the orphanage.

"Are you alright with a dominos? I know it's expensive so it's fine if not but I'm craving pizza right now." They replied, slightly nervous.

"It's fine, honestly kid money isn't really an issue for me at the moment." He says nonchalantly, grabbing his phone, presumably ordering food. "What pizza do you want?"

"Mozzarella please, full disclosure I'm an extremely picky eater." They told him politely, slightly expecting to be taken back.

But that didn't happen (clearly or we wouldn't have a story would we😱)

"Don't worry about it y/n. It's not like I'm gonna take you back because you've got some quirks. Besides, I heard how long you were stuck in that place and I'm gonna make sure you never have to go back." He replies while unlocking his car and getting in.

You'll never have to go back.

The words rang out in their head. Did he really mean that. Y/n had overheard enough Darr Mann videos to know that this could be a bold face lie.

They would be lying however if they said it wasn't a comforting thought.

The orphanage was a lonely place. People coming and going. No one staying longer than a month or two. Leading y/n to not want to get attached. Still it stung being alone.

But hey! They'd hopefully not have to go through that anymore! And wasn't that just a great thing to think about!

Now playing- One day by lovejoy

The singer sounded oddly like Wilbur, but y/n didn't think much of it. That was until he started singing along with it.

"You have a song?" They asked, bewildered. On first meeting he didn't sound like the music type.

"Oh? Yeah I have written many a song in my time young one." He said trying to sound stoic, "I'm in a band and even before that I had a bunch of them. Some are depressing as shit, some are comedy song." And he says this as is this wasn't a strange profession for a foster parent.

"I'm sorry but what sort of up his own ass fuckwit plays his own songs in the car?!" They joked.

"Wow, you have offended me you child. You remind me of my bro- friend- god fucking hell"
He goes to facepalm but immediately remembers HEY HES DRIVING!

"Damn, first of all, swearing infront of a minor!?You are such a bad influence, secondly, when I find out who your friend is, I'm definitely going to tell him you almost called him your brother."

"Don't you dare"

This banter went back and forth for the entire drive to Wilburs apartment block. Pulling up Wilbur sees the delivery man and grabs their pizza before leading them up to his apartment.

Their banter started back up again as they sat at Wilburs table eating the pizza.

"You room is the first door to the right. Make yourself at home." He says smiling as they make their way to their room

Wilburs pov:

I made a good choice with that kid I can just feel it. Even after the shit they've had to deal with in their life they can still smile and crack jokes. It's inspiring.

There is no way I'm letting that kid go back to the orphanage. Not over my dead body.

I walk over to their room to help them unpack because no doubt their struggling to open those boxes. They were triple taped or something by the looks of it jeez.

"Hey, you need help unpacking all your stuff?"

"That'd be good, thanks" they say over their shoulder.

"Damn your doing better than I thought you would be with those boxes" I laughed.

"You really don't have that much faith in my do you father? It's rude honestly" They say, tiredness seeping into their voice.

"You are going to be a handful I can just tell child. Now you sound tired we can finish this tomorrow.

Oh god Tommys coming over tomorrow-
