The Future

I dropped the money into the tin, scared to hand over the two tremissi as I was always afraid of the future. Determinedly I lifted the fabric of tent and peered in. The fortune teller smiled. I became less frightened, the fortune teller seemed so nice, and as beautiful as the sunset. "My name is Rune." The fortune teller said smiling sweetly.

"I'm Sarai Tameron." I replied nervously.

"Lay down your hands," she whispered. Reluctantly, I placed my hands on the small table draped in a cloth. Rune held them and her eyes rolled back into her head. I screamed as fell into the future. I saw a flash of a war, then me being celebrated, people shouting "You saved the galaxy...Sarai."

Suddenly my eyes opened wide. Breathing heavily, I asked "Is that really going to happen?" But she didn't answer. So I asked again. She didn't answer, she just smiled. So I shouted at her "IS THAT GOING TO HAPPEN!"

"That's for you to find out...NEXT!" She shouted softly. I pondered out wondering if that was real. Of course it wasn't, its just some pretend fortune teller it can't be. Can it?

As I walked home to my dads spaceship, The Falcon, I stared at the giant sky scrapers of Majesta. As I walked up the steps of my hovering home my mother came up to the sliding doors. She welcomed me in. As I stepped inside my little sister rushed up to me saying "Sissy, sissy come play attack of the alien with me!"

"Not today Ruby." I replied. Quickly I stumbled into my room before I could be harassed by anyone else. Up in my room there's a mirror I gazed in. How could an average 16 year old girl with two dark brown plaits, freckles and a fear of the future possibly win a war? My dad, a pilot called Jose, could win a war. Even my mum, a paramedic called Tine, could play a bigger part of a war than me.
