New Friends: Chapter 1

"Molly, I need help." a boy called for his older sister.  

"what is it?"

"I can't find mom and dad." 

"..." Molly did not want to have to remember them, and wanted him to forget, too.  

"Molly?!" 

"Danny, I am busy right now!" Molly shouted, then turning back to the man at the door.  

"I greatly apologize for my little brother's behavior.  he does not want to fully accept the fact that our parents are dead." 

"I completely understand.  my mother has always been gone, and one day, my father died, too.  but you two are lucky.  I was too young, and an only child, so I got sent to an orphanage.  no one wanted me, so once I was old enough, they let me go." 

"I am so sorry to hear that." Molly felt very grateful for his story, and was happy to know that the mailman would be a very nice and relatable person.  

"Molly, I think I found something!" suddenly, after Danny had spoken, they heard a crash and Molly knew that Danny was hurt.  

"I'm sorry, but I will have to go now," Molly said, picking up the mail and waving goodbye to the mailman.  then, she locked the door, then running down the hall to find. Danny on the floor, with a box on top of him.  not very big, but it was kind of heavy.  

"Molly, check it out!  it was up there!" 

"Danny, what do you think you are doing?"

"let's open it," then, she opened it for him.  there were photos.  you couldn't see what was on them though, so they would probably have to get them to a Darkroom, with a professional Photographic developer.  

"Danny, why don't we look through these later?" 

"okay, fine," he sighed, when suddenly, Molly's phone rang.  

"hello?" 

"Molly!" 

"oh, hi Carol, it's been a while!" Molly then walked away with the box in her other hand.  

"so, how are you and Danny doing?" 

"well, he still hasn't accepted the fact that mom and dad are gone, but he seems happy." 

"good.  hey, do you mind if we come over today?" 

"'we'?"

"oh yeah, April." 

"oh wow!  yeah, I would love to meet her!  how are you two doing, by the way?" 

"great!  I'm glad you asked, because I wanted to let you know that she is really excited to meet you, too." 

"I am so happy for you guys." 

"thanks.  wait a minute, are you still single?" 

"yeah." 

"oh my god, Molly." 

"relax, okay?  I don't even know what kind of person I like." 

"how do you mean?" 

"well, you like girls, Carol." 

"oh yeah, now I get it." 

"how long have you two been together, anyways?" 

"four years." 

"seriously?!  are you guys ever going to get married, or what?!" 

"listen, I know it has been a long time, but I just want to ask her in the perfect way." 

"oh, I see.  are you coming over to say hi, or ask for advice, because I have none." 

"actually, I was thinking of bringing Lisa and a couple of drinks." 

"adult drinks?" 

"yeah." 

"but why?" 

"because Lisa has the best collection.  you know how she is!  by it once a mont, don't drink it until the perfect occasion!" 

"I guess you're right.  so should I go pick up a soda for Danny, or should he be fine?" 

"actually, April is at the store right now, and that is one of the things on her list." 

"awesome!" 

"do you have Lisa's phone number?"

"no." 

"ask for it!" 

"fine." 

"good." 

"you know what, I have the strangest feeling that a certain little boy is in the kitchen trying to have another fruit jelly.  I'll have to call you back."

"okay, Bye!"

"bye." Molly hung up the phone, and then I decided to have a talk with Danny.
