A Shadow's Diamond

Chapter 14

Eggman waits for Scourge to return, but due to time, Scourge has been taking too long. Eggman pulls a lever and his hovercraft gets off the base. He flies to where Scourge is, but he soon sees Diamond sitting next a male fading red tiger. He smiles and flies over to Diamond.

Diamond looks up to see Eggman and raises an eyebrow, "Um, may I help you?"

Eggman begins to cry crocodile tears, "Oh Diamond, I have been looking everywhere for you."

"I don't know who you are...?" Diamond looks over at her husband who shrugs.

"I know that you don't know who I am, but I really need your help. You see here. Sonic and his friends have been taking the chaos emeralds from me and they are planning on doing something evil with them." Eggman takes out a tissue and holds it up to his nose.

Diamond becomes suspicious of Eggman's words, "How do I know if you are telling me the truth?"

"Because my last name is Robotnik. I am Gerald Robotnik's grandson and I am needing your help. Shadow has been trying to get rid of me and I only heard about you through the faded information from my grandfather's Ark." Eggman leans closer to Diamond.

Diamond holds up her hands, "Alright, alright, I will help out. What do you need me to do?"

"Oh, the task is too hard even for you." Eggman turns away.

"Just tell me before I change my mind." Diamond says a bit angrily.

Eggman smirks before turning back towards Diamond while shedding more tears, "I need you to get me the chaos emeralds, Sonic, Shadow, and Silver."

"So, lure them to you?" Diamond says a bit more confused but becoming annoyed.

Eggman nods, "Yes, you see. They have done something to Scourge and Infinite abandoned me."

"Wait, you are the one who sent Scourge and Infinite to me and try to capture me!" Diamond gets onto her feet and ready to fight Eggman.

Dexter holds onto Diamond's wrist and says while being a bit tired, "Diamond dear, please calm down."

"You're right, I did send them to you." Eggman stops the crocodile tears. He continues, "And now I am getting what I deserve." He pushes a few buttons and sends out a needle that puts Diamond to sleep. He sends out a robot claw and picks up Diamond's sleeping figure. He looks at the tiger before him. He says to him, "I don't care what you do, you aren't a threat to me." He turns his hovercraft around and flies away. He finally got what he was looking for and the key into putting the hedgehogs into their place.

Dexter slowly stands up and turns around. He needs to call Ray and Olympia. He walks over to the door of the roof and opens it up. He starts going down the steps while closing the door. He slowly goes down until he reaches his apartment door. He unlocks the door and opens it. He walks into the building and walks over to his cell phone. He dials in Ray's number. He waits a few seconds while hearing a beep coming from the other line. He hears someone pick up.

"Hello, this is Olympia who is currently in possession of the owner's phone."

"Olympia, it's Dexter." Dexter says while walking over to his couch and sitting down. He starts to cry, "Some man came and took Diamond away. I couldn't stop him. My bones are getting older."

"Don't cry, Dexter. We will get her back. You just stay at home and try to get some sleep. Me and Ray will get some people and get her back."

"Please do, I don't know what I would do without her." Dexter puts a hand up to his face. He begins to feel useless.

Olympia starts to shake Ray awake, "Dexter, trust me on this. Stay with Snow and Petal. They can't know what is going on and I know that you don't like lying but tell them when they wake up that Diamond is off with me and Ray for the day."

Dexter nods, "Will do, but please save Diamond. I don't know how much longer her body has until the plasma consumes her."

"Wait, the plasma is beginning to consume her?" Olympia says in shock as Ray wakes up a bit groggy. She turns her attention to Ray and says, "The plasma is beginning to consume Diamond."

Ray immediately becomes fully awake, "What?! When was this announced?"

Olympia asks on the phone, "When was this established, Dexter?"

"Shortly after she came home with the kids, she let the kids play in their home while she went over to the trash can and started throwing up. I immediately went to her and noticed that she was dying." Dexter puts a hand over his mouth as though he just revealed a secret.

"Did she tell you anything?" Ray takes the phone from Olympia and puts it on speaker.

Dexter nods again, "We talked before Eggman came along and we were talking about the plasma. She was telling me after she reunited with Shadow, her body started reacting badly."

Ray puts a finger underneath her lips, "Something with Shadow must have triggered her body badly."

"Wait, I remember her telling me that she was supposed to keep watch over an old guy named Gerald, some chick named Maria, and Shadow. Do you think by reuniting with Shadow made something from the experiments that she went through from the Ark react in some sort of way?" Olympia looks at the phone.

"Me and Diamond have met before she has met you girls. She told me that they have injected something into her arm that makes sure that she does her job, but if she doesn't, there will be serious consequences." Dexter says.

"That's it!" Olympia says loudly.

Ray smacks Olympia outside of the head before speaking, "Alright Dexter, it has been lovely talking to you, but we have to go save your wife."

"Thank you." Dexter says before hanging up the phone.

Ray hands back Olympia's phone as she stares at her friend, "I am going to kill an egg."

"Let's not." Olympia says with a disgusted look.

"If the blue idiot doesn't than I will." Ray gets off the bed as she gets dressed.

Olympia shrugs and goes to grab her boots.
