Chapter 2,
Wow, Buzzkill
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~" Fictional men are just hot, in like, all the right ways. "
~ Deb's POV ~
As we arrived at the coffee shop, the sweet smell of the coffee seemed to dance right under my nostrils. I loved the aroma of coffee since it was always so sweet, Ophelia decided that she was going to grab us a table while I got us our coffee orders with something to eat. The shop wasn't packed at all, it wasn't completely empty either.
This place would definitely be a good place to study, I know that Ophelia and Winslow would be coming here for their little study group, and I would tag along because I don't like being alone all the time. Once I gave the barista mine and Ophelia's order, I walked to the table and sat down across from Ophelia, she had her nose in her schedule.
"If you had the chance, would you date your favorite fictional character crush or would you date your favorite celebrity crush?"
I asked, breaking the comfortable silence.
"Neither, grades get me farther in the future while men get me pregnant and alone."
Ophelia spoke before folding her schedule and putting it away, I looked at her and sighed before getting up from the table to grab our order as the number was being called.
I turned around after grabbing our order and nearly spilled the drinks on someone, I felt my cheeks heat up in embarrassment. I apologized profusely and finally met eyes with the person, all my little nervous feelings went away as I realized it was Aurora.
"Hey Ru, I am so sorry for nearly spilling my drinks on you. Do you wanna sit with me and Ophelia?"
I offered as she grabbed her drink, she accepted my offer and together we walked to the back of the shop.
"Sup Lia."
Aurora greeted the quiet girl, she only looked up and sent a warm smile before whipping her phone out.
"Ru, I've got a life or death question. I asked Oph this but it was obvious she's still into her grades."
I teased the last part, I had no issues with my best friend focusing on her grades and her future, I was quite proud too. Not like I was going to tell her that.
"Hit me."
Aurora spoke as she took a sip from her caramel cappuccino, I looked at her and nodded my head, I took a moment to remember my question because my memory sometimes sucks.
"If you had the chance, would you date your favorite fictional character crush or would you date your favorite celebrity crush?"
"My fictional character, it's a no brainer."
Without missing a beat, Aurora responded, I looked at her and laughed before agreeing with her.
" Fictional men are just hot, in like, all the right ways. "
Aurora muttered as she took a longer sip than before, I nodded my head before whispering an 'amen', Ophelia only chuckled before taking a sip from her chai tea latte.
Once we finished with our drinks and food, we decided that we would take a stroll through the college campus just so we know where our classes were, I also made sure to ask Aurora what her schedule was. I didn't mind having some classes alone but that didn't mean that I wanted all of my classes to be without a single person I knew, group projects or partner projects would just give a little bit of anxiety.
We passed a bunch of cute boys and some of them made eye contact with me, I felt as if I was floating on air. I fell in love with love, everything about it was just so heart-warming, spending every single second with your soulmate was what I wanted. I mean, I loved how your significant other's eyes glow at the memory or thought of you.
"if you keep drooling over every boy that gives you the time of day, I swear I will become mother Gothel and lock you in our dorm. Only letting you out when it's time for classes and extra curricular."
Ophelia snickered, I looked at her and rolled my eyes.
"Don't be a buzz kill Ophelia."
I joked before saying goodbye to Aurora, we walked back to our dorm.
As much as Ophelia wants to hear it, I was never going to admit that she was right. Boys can treat you harshly and it breaks some people, but I never focused on that. I usually just ignore the red flags until they go away, but deep down, Ophelia knows she's right.
