[ClassMates— Pt.4]

There's snow on the ground, lights in the air, and plenty of Christmas cheer. Aether felt a wave of joy overcome him— a spur of happiness. And in that moment he had an idea.

"Xiao, care to walk with me for a little bit longer?" Aether spoke lightly. Xiao nodded and Aether took hold of his hand. It was sudden but Xiao didn't mind at all. The warmth that emitted from their clasped hands was all they focused on to stay warm in this chilly weather. As they walked further on, it was like walking straight into a winter wonderland. The neighbourhood was flooded with brightly coloured lights above and beside them with propped up Christmas decorations everywhere they looked. "Isn't it great? If only everyday were like this," Aether took in a deep breath— feeling the cold air run down along his throat. "But then again, I suppose it wouldn't feel as special." He couldn't contain his excitement any longer and continued further in to the neighbourhood admiring the surroundings in 'awe'; taking Xiao along with him. 

"Where are we going? There's so many people here.." Xiao questioned him as they were nearing more crowds of people who also wanted to enjoy the festive atmosphere. Though a bit uncomfortable; Xiao was willing to put up with whatever obstacles appeared if it meant keeping the smile plastered on Aether's face. "We're almost there, just bare with me for a little longer." Aether laughed, squeezing Xiao's hand in encouraging him to keep going. As they passed by more and more people the crowds lessened until eventually there was barely anyone around.

Hidden behind a small row of bushes, lights were hung along a wooden fence while a small fountain layered with ice glistened from it's surroundings. There, was a small bench that sat under a branch from a nearby tree adorned with garland and smaller fairy lights. Looking out towards even more decorative houses "Ah, good— everything's still here and there's nobody around." Aether breathed in a sigh of relief. "So what do you think? Pretty neat, huh"
Xiao didn't know what to say, or how Aether could even find such a secluded area. But regardless; it was indeed stunning.

The look on Xiao's face told Aether everything, so he didn't say more. Instead, he guided them to the bench as his cheeks suddenly got warmer. "This place," Xiao could hear the sound of Aether's breath as he sat merely a few inches beside him; his eyes glued on their hands rather than the scenery around them. "I have something.. to give you," Slowly Xiao took out a small box from inside his pocket and held it on his lap "I— was going to wait.. but I hope you'll still keep it."

Aether tilts his head in confusion, when did he bring a gift along? "How long were you carrying this around?" Taking the box— Aether carefully opens it revealing a crystal butterfly pendant. His face lit up as he held the cool material in his hand. This time it was Aether who didn't know what to say, but the way he looked gave Xiao all the satisfaction he needed. "I.. didn't bring anything with me to give you.." Aether sighed; disappointed.
"Your company is already a gift, I don't mind" Xiao muttered, then soon felt his own face light up and avoided Aether from seeing him.

In response Aether chuckled, and held the gift close "I never said that I didn't have anything for you," He paused. "But for now— it's just me, sorry." Xiao perked up and removed his hand away from his face; countless things (that i shall not write lol ;] ) rushing through his mind. Meanwhile Aether rests his head on Xiao's shoulder; smiling to himself.
"Merry Christmas, Xiao."

not sure if this looks rushed, this is the 2nd time i've gotten sick within 3 months so i feel terrible, but i wish everyone a happy and healthy Christmas ^^
