The way everyone settled outside of the waiting room silent and anxious made Iguro Obanai think about something.

Why would they show some care over a mere co-worker? Someone who should've been doing their job properly without being stupid enough to almost die in the arms of a weak demon.

They should be disappointed with you, as you were definitely pathetic earlier handling that disgusting creation of Muzan. You didn't deserve any of their attention, you never deserved any of the people waiting for you out of the waiting room.

His mind was torturing you, belittling you, insulting you. Over and over in his head he wanted you to die, he wanted to feel a bit of peace seeing you rest there the moment Shinobu open the doors. Iguro wants you to stop living, it will make things easier for him.

Easier for what?

Was what his inner voice argued, why did he even thought of it? Why would he want you dying? An important co-worker, a pillar. Someone who's equal to him, one of the strongest female slayers out there.

The deafening silence wasn't killing the serpent pillar, instead. He wondered why would they look so weak over someone who isn't supposed to mean that much.

"It seems like everyone is here." And finally after hours of surgery, Shinobu finally came out of the room with a neutral expression. Her eyes scanning the area before speaking once again, "She's already safe but I still need to check on her from time to time as I still need to check if her body would be stable enough to be taken on a regular room, other than that. She would be fine."

"Oh thank goodness!" Mitsuri cried in relief at the news of their friend being safe while everyone else followed their voice of concerns and relief except for the serpent pillar.

Despite the others trying to talk with one another out of relief, Iguro stood there at the corner in silence. His eyes observed their behavior.

That was when Shinobu went to his direction with a calm smile.

"I wanted to thank you for helping [First Name]" she finally said it, her eyes then showed a hint of gratefulness in them before it disappeared.

"I would've been devastated right now of we found her later." Shinobu knew he didn't want to hear any of her explanations about the situation, but she still continued anyway. His annoyance for you was still something the insect pillar can use to spite him "Now that she's safe, all of us can finally rest."

Some of the pillars stood up from their positions before Mitsuri took Shinobu away from Iguro, the love pillar was busy enough to care about him for a bit while the others asked if it was alright to visit you next time. Though the purple tipped haired girl didn't answer it with any certain chances, they still held onto it and told her they would visit you again next time before they went onto their missions.

And that left him, Shinobu, and Mitsuri.

The two girls were now in their own world as they talked about what things could've happen when Iguro didn't show up in time, worry laced their features while they talked. Shinobu was still expressing her fears to the love pillar who's definitely tearing up at each word she say, the both of them sat and talked there for a good few minutes before finally mustering up the courage to say goodbye at each other as Mitsuri finally got a mission from her crow.

"I'll leave you guys for a bit, I have to do this mission! I'll be back!" was all the love pillar could ever say as she went out of the butterfly estate with hesitance.

And there left behind was Shinobu and Iguro, which made the insect pillar raise her brow in curiosity.

"What are you still doing here?" she asked him. She was definitely confused by his behavior.

Iguro didn't really say anything, only standing there with his snake hissing at her signalling annoyance. Shinobu took it as an answer of him telling her to leave him alone and shut up.

Maybe he had injuries but was too shy to even ask help.

"Iguro-san if you have injuries you can say so" she said but still he didn't budge.

The room was almost empty and still the serpent pillar was there even after everyone left, did he want something from you or did he just want to stay here until his crow will send him another mission? As your health wasn't really his concern.

Right?

The both of them stand there in silence, Iguro staring at a distance while Shinobu stood there with her eyes observing his actions. Despite the hurtful things this serpent pillar had told you, she couldn't help but feel happy when he helped you. She never expected him to do something if he were the first one to find you, yet her they were.

Even if he won't say a word, she'll just let him be. Hope filled her mind, that maybe the black haired male will realize something as he stayed back.

"Why do all of you care so much for her?" finally.

The question he have been wanting to ask was finally out of his malicious mind.

Shinobu could only give him a warm smile, "All the things [First Name] did for us was something others can't really do as they are selfish enough to not share their affection and would only care about themselves or the person they chose to protect. Meanwhile her, she sacrifices a lot."

"Which is really pathetic of her." She glared at him.

"The only person who's pathetic here is you Iguro-san, what has she ever done to you? [First Name] only loved you yet you find it disgusting?"

He was silenced at the question, memories played in his mind with you trying so hard to help him with things he really didn't need company. From the paired missions the both of you went through where you would try and risk yourself for him but he would be telling you off after, only for you to have this pained smile before leaving him all alone after every mission.

Iguro never understand why you would ever catch feelings for him, and he was in love with someone else. So why would you bother pouring your feelings for him despite knowing that he won't ever reciprocate it?

Were you out of your mind?

Meanwhile, Shinobu could only watch as the black haired pillar got lost into his chain of thoughts. Her lips were now curled into a small smile, she was clearly worried for you as this guy was hard to love when time goes by.

But you chose him, and she never really understand why.
