Chapter 1:Daily Life

Minerva's POV

I woke to the alarm clock blaring beside my bed, the annoying should making me groan, pick it up, and chuck it across the room. The noise stopped, but that was my third alarm clock this week! I really need a new, less expensive hobby... Throwing off the covers, I haul myself out of my warm bed to get to the closet. While I don't have a lot of clothes because of my minimum-wage job (suck to be a college student), the clothes I do have are durable, and very cute. First I throw on a dark pink tube top with a thick white strip across the bust and a white shawl, all matched with a pair of black-dyed skinny jeans. Reaching down, I grasp my favorite pair of white flats to slip onto my feet. Then off to the vanity I go, where I brush out my long hair that falls down to the middle of my back. Uncapping my lipgloss, I swipe it across my lips, making them glisten in the rising sun. Next is my mascara, which I carefully brush onto my eyelashes. Since I have no eyeshadow that matches the shirt, I think I'm just going to go without for today. Most people hardly notice the eyeshadow anyways. I also don't put on any foundation, as it just wears off to easily for my liking. Grabbing my IPhone off the vanity and stuffing it into my jean pocket, I declare myself ready and walk out of the bedroom. My roommate, Gerald, is already up. We share a two bedroom apartment, both going to the same college and studying different subjects. Gerald is eating a bowl of cereal. Not surprising, as it is his go-to breakfast food. He raises his head blearily as I walk in, and offers a tired wave. I can't help but chuckle and wave back, obviously he was out late last night with his friends. After popping two pieces of bread in the toaster, I sit down at the table, ready to drill the details out of my friend. He looks at me wearily before sighing. Obviously he knows I won't stop pestering him until he answers! "Don't give me the puppy eyes Minerva." He said, "Kai had a party last night, and we may have drank a bit too much..." I curled my lip unhappily. I knew about the party, Kai was another one of my good friends, but I had too much work from my classes to attend... Gerald laughed quietly at my face, and ruffled my hair playfully. I squeak and bat his hands away, what good would it do for him to mess up my hair? "Anyways, don't you have classes today?" He asked curiously, and my eyes widen comically before I scrabble to my feet. His booming laughter follows me as I grab my car keys and hurry out of the apartment, purse in one hand, keys and iPhone in the other. It didn't take long for me to get to the parking lot, and when I did my car was waiting for me. She was my baby, a shining silver Nissan GTR. It was a beautiful car that really didn't get the attention it so deserved. "Hello sweetheart!" I cooed at it. "I missed you so much!" Many of my friends thought it was strange that I talked to my car, but I didn't care. I'm showing it my love and affection. We'll see who's laughing when their cars break down, and my baby stays intact because of my overwhelming love! I unlocked the car quickly and climbed inside, silently relishing the leather seats. Putting the key into the ignition was the next step; and soon I was driving out of the parking lot and heading towards the campus. Gerald hadn't wanted to live on-campus, because a female and a male were not allowed to share a dorm. We have been friends for a while, and I trust him to be my roommate. Not to mention, he's extremely tall, and huge! Anyone who tried to break into the apartment could be crushed in one fist. Also, my own elemental abilities help with that. You see, I'm the air elemental, and can control the air, wind, and even the weather to some extent. It is a secret I guard carefully, as my mom once told me that many people would try to kill me for my abilities. If someone kills an elemental, their powers are then passed onto their killer. I have never met another elemental in all my life, but oh, how I wish I knew another person like me! My train of thought distracted me from my driving, a mistake that ended up having disastrous results. A huge wolf ran across the road from the surrounding forest, right in front of my car! I screeched and swerved out of the way, barely missing the large animal. But, instead my car hit a tree. I was thrown forwards, the only thing saving me being the seatbelt, and the airbags which had luckily deployed from the impact. With a muffled grunt from the airbag crushed against my face, I struggle out of the seatbelt and yank open the car door to force my way out. Collapsing to the ground due to shaky legs, I breath deeply through my nose. Something sticky runs from my nose, and upon further inspection, it turns out to be blood. Wow, I must have hit harder than I first thought! My first thought is to get my phone, but as I look up, I see the wolf padding towards me, with a strange look in his eyes. His fur was a white-blonde, and he had stormy grey eyes that looked humanoid. My breath hitched, it must be a shifter! Mother told me about them once, but they rarely came near human cities and towns, what was one doing here? I could have hit myself for that comment; there was forest on either side of the road, why wouldn't he be here? I was startled out of that train of thought as soon as I noticed how close the shifter had gotten, now he was almost only a few feet away from me! What in the world does he want? And who is he?!

Here's the first chapter, and I know it's a bit dull... But I promise things will pick up in the next chapter. Thanks again to BigGreader for making Gerald, and I hope I did him justice:) Next chapter will be out soon, I promise
