Akira~
Akira and Chance awkwardly walked home together. There was a weird silence between them and even though Akira did her best to ignore it by listening to music, she couldn't help but worry about Chance. There was so much that happened at school today, which Chance would normally be going on and on about. Not hearing her excitedly tell Akira things she didn't care about was a bit saddening. She'd never guessed her friend could get so down.
"I'm trying out for the swim team tomorrow." Akira finally spoke.
"Cool."
"And I got invited to a college party Saturday."
"Oh."
"Taylor's older sister goes to Johnson C Smith and she asked me if I wanted to come with them this weekend."
"Cool."
"Do you want to go?"
"Nah."
"Oh! My crush for Jackie went away. I caught the ick when he started being rude to the teacher in class for no reason. He was more than likely showing out for his friends but it bothered me."
"Okay."
Akira frowned and looked down at the ground. She was going to stop speaking because she didn't care that much about what Chance was going through. She was only trying to cheer her up but nothing was working and the aggravated side of her was about to start showing until she thought of one more thing. "I may have taken a liking to someone else."
"Who?"
"Jaylen."
Chance stopped in her tracks and Akira smirked, knowing she had her where she wanted her. "Girl Jaylen or boy Jaylen?"
"Umm... Boy."
"Well he is one of the finest boys in the 10th grade. You gonna talk to him?"
"I'll try."
"Good."
"So... Are you going to talk to your mom soon?"
"Are you getting tired of me staying with you?"
"Sorta kinda. I wouldn't mind it if you'd move to the guest room, but you sleep wild."
"I'll go home today."
"And talk to your mom?"
"Never said that."
"If I can forgive my mom for all that she's done, you can forgive yours."
"Your mom didn't have a child and lie to you your whole life nor did she drive your father away from you."
"Chance you gotta get over it—
"Don't tell me to get over anything. When you spent all that time being mean to Ms. Megan because you couldn't deal with your own emotions of your mom dying, I didn't tell you to get over it. I let you work through it."
"That was actually rude as fuck Chance."
Chance rolled her eyes and sighed, "I didn't mean to be rude, I'm sorry. I just don't understand how she could've lied to me like that. I have a sister out there somewhere."
"So let's get some information and find her." Akira unlocked the door to her home and both she and Chance went inside, dropping their bags at the door.
"What?"
"Your sister. If you go talk to your mom and allow her to explain everything, maybe you'll gather enough info to find her. Or if you're lucky, your mom will just tell you, but you never know unless you have that conversation."
