We continue our journey through the Golden Age with a plethora of arguments between our two bulls, Thomas and Brooke. They were not ones to negotiate peace and they never even gave the idea of a peace a second thought. But there were some days when I could actually see a connection between the two that almost seemed like the beginning of a beautiful new friendship. That friendship was soon thrown into the fires of Hell after their many foolish "mini-arguments." The term mini arguments describes a time in August when Brooke and Thomas had two to three arguments a day that lasted for about five minutes until it was usually broken up by Shelby.
As stated before, Shelby is the peacemaker. She was rarely the one starting the arguments nor did she ever encourage them except for one day when she had a minimal involvement in an argument about Brooke and Zach. The argument goes like this: Thomas was talking to me about their situation. I was only wondering if Brooke was still upset about the issue in which Thomas said that they probably were probably. I quickly left the conversation for I had other personal matters to attend to but Gwen took my place in the conversation. 45 minutes later, Brooke came on and once again, stated that Zach was never her boyfriend. She went on to say that she was just angry that he was two-timing her. I know what you may be thinking readers, "Didn't she just say that they weren't dating?" It seems you and Shelby had the same thought process as Shelby joined in and asked "So you were dating?" Brooke answered a swift no and Shelby quickly responded with "But you just said he was two-timing you?" Gwen joined in on the argument too and began saying that Brooke should just get the whole thing off her chest and stop denying it. At this moment, Tyler joined in. Tyler tried to diverge the argument in a different direction when he sent a video of he and his friends watching South Park. Despite these efforts, the argument raged on until it met its climax. Brooke sent an angry response to all of Shelby and Gwen's blows towards her. The text was full of cursing and it had obvious frustration and anguish written between its lines. In a last effort to finally end this argument, Shelby changed the subject in which Brooke responded with "Jesus Christ!" This was the first major fight of the group chat.
The next couple of days were more tranquil than those before and featured a girl named Sarah who Gwen added to give this sixth grader a chance to hang out with her. I never talked to Sarah in all her time there and she was soon abandoned on that chat as the school year started. As we began to get closer to the beginning of school, we all cited our joy and rage about the teachers we got for homeroom. I was put in the same classroom as Brooke, Lia, and Dan while the others were put into different homerooms. We were all terrified that this may ruin the group chat since we seldom get time to hang out with the other classes. This problem was later fixed when we realized that we could sit at any lunch table we wanted this year. Of course, that was a temporary privilege.
After returning to our school, we all got a chance to reminisce about our experiences in the summer group chat. Here we have the entry of a new character, Kellen. Kellen was a long time friend of mine since the fifth grade. We always had something to relate to and there were never any arguments. He overheard us talking about the group chat and told me that I should have told him about it before so he would have had something to do over the summer. Why didn't I tell him you may ask? Was it because I just didn't like him anymore? I can assure you that it was nothing of the sort. The problem was that I was afraid of how he would fare towards a group chat. I just couldn't tell how he would react towards being a part of something like that.
The first week or so was just as it had been during the summer group chat except without the arguing. We were all very excited to welcome in the newcomer Kellen. It took a while for him to settle in but he grew comfortable as time progressed. We even got Dan to finally text after a strange problem with his phone had prevented him from texting. Dan was a part of the Originals it was just that he could never text. But we didn't add him in until later in the month of September or early October. We had high hopes for this upcoming year. We saw a grand new future ahead of us and the group chat. That is until a new issue emerged, a plague that would leave all of us wondering about the future of our glorious group chat. This plague was called the Dark Ages.
One thing that you, as the reader, must understand about the Golden Age is that it wasn't as great as we make it seem. It was full of fights and idiocy but we were all willing to disregard that so we could have a chance to talk to those of us who weren't continuously fighting. Of course compared to the Dark Ages, this period is considered golden and brimming to the top with light. The only way I remember these events is through connecting them with the great times I had with my friends and family during the summer. There were still good parts to this chat and the majority of the arguments we had were either between Brooke and Thomas or just very minor arguments. With that said and with the fact that I had most the joy out of this period in the group chat's history, I believe that this age is fully deserving of the term The Golden Age.
