Keqing let her gaze follow the ticking of the clock in the room as her teacher announced the assignments set for the week.
'Alright, class is almost over. But please remember to do this week's assignment; a presentation on the major trading laws of Liyue.' The voice spoke. Keqing closed her textbook as a hand shot up behind her.
'Madam Ningguang! What would happen if you fail to submit on time?' A high pitched voice called from behind. Keqing turned around to locate the source of this voice. There, speaking, was a young blue-haired woman with a large pony tail and two black and red adeptus horns. A half-Adepti? What a rare sight... Keqing was broken out of her thoughts by the professor speaking again.
'My, my, Ganyu. You of all students needn't worry about deadlines. But to answer the question, it depends how late it is. If it's just outside of the requested limit then you'll just lose a perfect score. Anything beyond that will have further consequences however..' With that, the clock announced the end of the lesson and everyone was free to leave class. The purple haired girl sunk into her dorm as soon as possible, prepared to get changed and perhaps head out to a cafe or library to work on her assignments. She opened her small closet and picked out a long sweater, coat, scarf, boots and thigh high socks before disappearing into her bathroom and reappearing fully dressed and ready to leave. Keqing put her laptop into a small handbag alongside her purse and dorm room keys and left. She walked down the street of busy apartments, stores and cafes. Soon a brightly coloured sign stuck out to her.
The Adeptus' Realm. A cafe themed with adepti made food and drink. Free WiFi!The door made a little jingle as Keqing pushed through it, revealing a relatively small space with a counter carrying many desserts and coffee cup sizes. While she only intended to come for the WiFi and a comfortable environment to work, a cup of coffee wouldn't do any harm.. right? Lining up in the (very short) ordering queue, the purple haired girl put her pink-hued gaze on all the sweets in display. Soon she made her way to the front counter to make her order. Behind the counter was a silver haired woman with red ropes tied in bows over her uniform.
'Oh, hello! I'll take.. a medium sized latte with only one sugar.. oh! And the WiFi password please.' She dove into her handbag for her purse, pulling out the charged $3.00 for the coffee. The woman handed Keqing a small card with the WiFi network and password. She sat down at an empty window seat, entering the password into her laptop and beginning to read closely the instructions on her assignment.'Erm- did you order the uhm.. medium latte with one sugar?' A oddly familiar voice called from behind her. Keqing turned around and was startled to see the half-adeptus girl from her class, who she barely remembered the name of. So startled she almost forgot to answer.
'Oh- yep! That's mine. But.. sorry but you feel oddly familiar..' She did her best to subtly address the elephant in the room. Putting the coffee down carefully, the worker nodded.
'Really? Because I do remember you barely.. ah! Your in my class! Liyue Law School? It's- oh.. I'm not great with names, sorry.' Ganyu pressed her hands against the back of her head in apology. Keqing let out a playful smile.
'I thought you looked familiar! Your name.. it's Ganyu right? I'm Keqing. Didn't know you worked here.' Keqing eagerly continued, beginning to sip on her coffee. Ganyu once again nodded.
'Yep! I only really work here since it's a family owned business.. my adoptive family at least.. My mother, Cloud Retainer owns the cafe. The lady at the counter? That's my half-sister, Shenhe.' Ganyu began to ramble on, entertaining Keqing quite a bit. She smiled as Ganyu went on about her mother, father, and everyone in between alongside their acomplishments. Who knew I had someone so fun sitting almost next to me in my classes..'What about yourself? Why are attending the college? What goals and medals do you have? Tell me more!' Keqing swirled her seat around to face Ganyu properly, who just looked at her watch and sighed.
'Oh.. unfortunately I need to get back to work. Cloud Retainer'll stop paying me and if she does that, then how am I supposed to pay for college! Oh dear, there I go rambling again.. anyways, see you around.' Ganyu smiled as she returned to her spot behind the counter, beginning to discuss something with Shenhe. While Keqing was glad to finally get to work, a part of her felt disappointed to stop chatting with her. With a sigh, she turned back to her screen and began._________
