When morning comes, Kagome was up bright and early as usual. She dressed up with jogging as always until she went to do exercise. When she returned home after a run, she showered and changed then started to make breakfast for Tom and Maddie, she made pancakes, eggs, and bacon.

By the time Tom and Maddie came down, Kagome was just setting everything down on the table and the coffee had just finished brewing.

"Good morning, Uncle Tom and Aunt Maddie," Kagome greeted them.

"Kagome, you don't have to make breakfast," Maddie said.

"I know but I'm up early anyway and besides I enjoy it." Kagome replied, "So eat up while everything is nice and hot."

"Of course," Tom said as he and his wife all sit down to enjoy a nice breakfast together.

After breakfast, Tom was on the phone with Maddie, who has flown out to San Francisco to check out their future house, as well as to visit her sister Rachel who dislikes Tom, and niece Jojo. As Tom said to Maddie about the blackout, he heard a disturbance and sees his trash can toppled over.

Thinking the raccoons are back, Tom took his wife's tranquilizer gun, ended the call abruptly, which gave Rachel enough reason to suggest to Maddie that she should divorce him, and went out to investigate the shed.

The noise turned out to be Sonic, who broke into the shed so he would have a safe place to use one of his Rings. As he prepared to do so, Tom burst into the shed and saw him. Both of them scream in terror at the sight of each other and Tom fired a dart into Sonic's leg.

The weakening Sonic saw a picture of San Francisco's Transamerica Pyramid on Tom's T-shirt, and as he dropped his Ring, it opened a portal above the actual building itself. Collapsing to the floor, Sonic accidentally dropped the bag of Rings into the portal, and it landed on the building's roof. The portal thusly closed as Sonic passed out, leaving Tom severely confused at everything that just transpired.

Just then Kagome came in and saw what happened after she heard them screaming, "What happened?" She asked, worried. Then she saw an unconscious Sonic lying on the ground.

"Sonic!" Kagome panicked.

"Sonic? Wait... You know this creature?" Tom asked in shock.

"Yes, and I met him yesterday. Also, he became my new friend," Kagome said.

"New friend!? You made a new friend with this thing!?" Tom shouted, pointing at the unconscious Sonic.

"How about bringing him inside and then I'll explain everything?" Shortly after, Tom brought Sonic inside, placing him in a dog cage, comparing him to the quill he found, and realizing that Crazy Carl's "Blue Devil" may be real after all.

"Is that necessary?" Kagome asked with a rude look, "You can't put him in the dog cage. He'll lose his trust when he thinks I'm into this trap."

"So should we put him in your bedroom instead?" Tom suggested.

She nodded. "Yes, if you would."

Then Tom got him out of the dog cage and took him to Kagome's room. He laid him on the bed and wait for him to wake. Finally, Sonic woke up and found himself laying on Kagome's bed and the two finally meet for real and have their first proper conversation.

"Donut Lord? Kagome?" Sonic first responded in shock.

Tom widened his eyes. "He can talk...!"

Kagome grinned. "Yep, and he can."

"You're not here to abduct me, right?" Tom questioned the blue hedgehog, which Kagome facepalmed with a sweatdrop.

"You abducted me! I'm only coming here to see my bestie!" Sonic snapped.

"Then she's all yours," Tom said, pointing at his niece.

"Sonic, what happened? Why are you in the garage?" Kagome asked her friend.

"I needed somewhere safer," Sonic told her, "And you're the only one I could think of, Kagome. Especially you, Donut Lord."

"Why do you keep calling me Donut Lord!?" Tom complained. "It's always Donut Lord!"

"I was wondering the same thing," Kagome said.

"Cause you talk to donuts and then eat them if they get out of line," Sonic told him.

Kagome started to laugh, "That's true."

"Kags, please stop laughing..." Tom said in embarrassment.

She cleared her throat. "Sorry..."

"Wait... where are all the mushrooms?" Sonic said, looking for something, "Why am I still on Earth?"

"Eh?" Kagome and Tom said in confusion as they looked at each others' faces.

Then Sonic remembered and started to panic more, "Oh, no! I lost my ring!"

"What?" They asked in confusion. Then they heard noises from outside, knowing Sonic was now in danger.
