—————————— chapter two, sunlight and awkward car rides! " THERE SHE IS" ( season one, episode one, summer house ) [ part one ] ——————————
Waking up in the hospital was not something Juliet Lynch would ever get used to, nor was it something she wanted to get used to. After ten days of non stop tests, medications, needles, crummy food, and bitchy nurses, she was ready to finally go home.
She now stood looking at the mirror in the small dimly lit bathroom that was attached to the room that she would finally be leaving today. She was stripped of her hospital gown and allowing her eyes to rake over every inch of her body.
She looked like she had been starved for the past five years, scars littered almost every inch of her body, and her hair was so matted that she feared it was one singular strand now.
When she was younger, how she looked was a constant obsession of hers, she cared about the way her hair looked, what clothes she wore, even what purse she chose to use. Over the course of the last few years none of that mattered, she didn't have access to those sorts of things anyway, but now that she was free again, she wondered if she would slip back into caring.
The Conklin's had come by this morning, although only Belly was allowed into the room, per Juliet's request. She wanted to look somewhat presentable when she saw everyone else again. Belly brought her a change of clothes and some shoes so that she would have something to wear when they left to go to Cousins that afternoon.
A knock on the door pulled the girl away from her self-loathing thoughts, "Hey, Juliet, are you okay in there?" Belly asked softly, some concern lacing her voice, "No rush, just checking." She assured.
Juliet swallowed thickly, nodding her head in self assurance as she took one last look in the mirror, "Yes," She replied, gathering up the hospital gown from the floor and opening the door.
Belly could see the sadness on the girl's face as she looked down at the baggy attire, she was holding the shorts up by her forefingers and the crop top was quite unintentionally loose, "You look great, don't worry." She told her after the initial shock passed over, she was beautiful, there was no denying it, but she also just looked so different, and the scars, oh the scars, they begged the question of what could have possibly caused them.
"Thank you," She said, although it wasn't genuine.
"When we get to Cousins I'm sure we can get you some new clothes in your size, I wouldn't stress about it," She assured, but she knew it wouldn't help much, every girl knew the stress of being beautiful. And Belly knew that when her friend saw Jeremiah, she would want to look her best.
Belly had always been a good friend to Juliet, throughout the years of shared summers they became close, two peas in a pod, they suspected it had something to do with the fact that they were the only two girls in the little group, but Juliet felt it was more than that.
