Y/N FOUND HERSELF in the arms of Seth, embraced in the middle of an empty corridor, as streams of tears rolled over her cheeks. Seth shook her awake, as a worried expression grew on his face. Y/n sat up on his lap, looking nervously around.

"What?" she mumbled. "What happened? How did I get here?"

Seth took a minute before answering, wiping her tears with his fingers.

"Y/n, you came to me . . you don't remember?"

Y/n shook her head. "No . . . I . . I was walking around the halls, then everything went black —

Then everything hit. She realized the damage she caused was far too late to fix. It was all her fault; someone else was attacked, because she was too weak to fend off Riddle from taking control over her body. Weak and vulnerable, she had stumbled out of the girl's laboratory and bumped into Seth. That was the position she was in at the moment.

"I'm so sorry," Y/n cried, hiding her face with her arms. "This is so embarrassing . . you should go. Class is starting soon."

"Y/n . . class was canceled," said Seth, grabbing her arms to hold her face. "Didn't you hear . .? Justin Flinch-Fletchley was petrified. Class was canceled."

Y/n tried not to seem suspicious, but she broke down again. "Oh no . ." she wailed. "This wasn't supposed to happen. Hogwarts isn't safe anymore."

"Were you close to him or something—?"

"No . . Seth, you should leave Hogwarts," said Y/n at once. "Go — tell Lucius Malfoy to let you study aboard —"

"If you don't want to be friends anymore, just say that," Seth joked. Y/n frowned, causing Seth to take back his words. "You're serious? Where is this coming from?"

Y/n remained quiet; her sight fixated on the floor beneath her.

"Come on," said Seth, leading her downstairs. "There's nothing ice cream can't fix."

Y/n was upset that Seth wasn't taking her words seriously and mostly irritated with the entire situation. Losing Colin to Riddle had dreaded her energy, even her grades were beginning to suffer. Professor Lockhart sighed before handing out her exam results, then went on about how disappointed he was when he graded her test.
