☆ 3rd Person POV ☆

Herb sighed as he padded into school. He started to loathe going into this place. But, his best friend, Light, made it all worth it.

He wasn't like the other boys. He was gentler and shyer. Even this one classmate, Kessler, decided to bully him due these differences. It was even worse as he had a type disadvantage if he even stood up for himself.

Herb sat down on a bench; his leafy tail curled into himself. He opened up his lunch box and began to eat the fruit that he packed for himself. After that, he grabbed out the veggie packed sandwich he had. He attempted to take a bite before the moment flashed before his eyes.

" Girly boy! ", A voice cackled.

Herb looked up and it was Kessler, standing over him, with his sandwich on the ground.

" Go on, pick it up, princess. ", Kessler snarled, with a teeth-glaring grin.

Suddenly, there was a flash, and Kessler was pushed back tremendously.

" Shoo! You bird! ", A female voice hissed.

Herb looked over and it was his best friend, Light.

Kessler growled and flew away, due to his 2x weakness to Light's electric attacks.

" Are you alright? ", Light asked, with concern, bounding over to Herb.

" I am. Thank you. ", Herb nodded with a soft voice.

" Here. ", Light offered a bit of her crunchy peanut butter sandwich.

" No, no, I'm alright. ", Herb shook his head, despite being flattered by Light's kind gesture.

" Why do they bully you anyways? You're so kind, and everything. ", Light asked, sitting down next to Herb, her ear twitched.

" I don't know. They just don't like me for being 'girly.' ", Herb quoted with a sigh.

" I'm just glad I can take care of those bullies for you. Kessler should've learned his lesson by now. ", Light sighed, her ears flattening.

Herb nodded, curling his leafy tail around himself again.

" Hey, Light, could I tell you something? ", Herb questioned, in a quiet and unsure voice.

" Of course! ", Light expressed with a friendly smile, biting her sandwich.

" I... uhm... I feel like I'm different, too different. ", Herb confessed, drooping his ears.

" What do you mean? ", Light tilted her head.

" Like I don't feel like a boy. But I am one. It doesn't feel right. And with the bullying, it makes me feel isolated. ", Herb elaborated, looking down.

" You know, you don't have to be someone you aren't. You should be you. ", Light comforted, her dark purple gaze seeming gentle and caring.

" Thank you. ", Herb nodded.

- Timeskip -

It has been two weeks since that conversation. Herb has realized some things in that time. Herb has finally built up the confidence to tell Light.

" Light, I wanted to tell you something. ", Herb informed, looking away.

Light's yellow ears perked up, giving Herb her full attention.

" I'm a girl. ", Herb confessed, her brown eyes not meeting Light's dark purple ones.

" Can I hug you? ", Light asked, holding out her front paws.

Herb nodded, still looking down at her brown dipped paws.

Light's paws wrapped around her in a tight squeeze.

" I'm proud of you for discovering yourself. You know, you are the best girl I would have asked for to be my best friend. Thank you for telling me. ", Light confessed, rubbing Herb's back slightly with her paw.

Herb just started to cry happy tears as she cuddled into Light's shoulder. Her leafy tail was wagging with contentment.

It was again at lunch. Herb was munching down on her lunch when two Pokémon approached her. She tensed up seeing one of them. It was Kessler, but Light was by his side.

" I believe he has something to say to you. It's that right, Kessler? ", Light started, eyeing the Skarmory, seeming protective of Herb.

" I'm sorry for how I've treated you. As my dad told me to never hit a woman, I am sorry for my actions. ", Kessler nodded, having an expression of both shame and fear on his face.

" I accept your apology. Thank you. ", Herb nodded, with a smile.

" Alright, now you may go. ", Light gestured, Kessler quickly flying off afterwards, along with Light sitting with Herb.

" Hey, I actually have something to say to you as well. ", Light confessed, her spiky cheeks flushing a bit.

" Yes? ", Herb tilted her head.

" I have feelings for you. Romantic feelings. I have always liked girls, and only girls. And I have fallen for you. I suppose my heart was telling the truth. And perhaps, would you like to go to the upcoming dance with me? ", Light confessed, looking lovingly into Herb's beautiful brown eyes.

Herb was taken back by this, showing by her cheeks flushing and not making eye contact.

" I would love to go with you. ", Herb confirmed.

Then, Light gave her a quick peck on the cheek, making her flush even more.
