I arrived at the Hall of Justice within half an hour. When I entered the meeting room, Hal and Bruce were waiting for me.
Thunderer: Iam here, what was so urgent?
Batman: He'll explain it to you better, I have something else.
The Dark Knight of Gotham left the room at a rapid pace.
Green Lantern: I called you because I need you. There's a situation that requires the most attention.
Pictures of a mining installation appeared on the monitor; it wasn't terrestrial but extra-terrestrial. Other photos showed mutilated bodies.
Green Lantern: This is one of the mining installations belonging to Thanagar, it was attacked a few days ago, and from what you can see, the attacker wasn't playing.
Thunderer: No, he wasn't. This was more than an attack though, the mutilated bodies this was done by someone revelling in it.
Green Lantern: This isn't the first that has been attacked, bodies have been found at the scene from Thanagarians but also from the Rann. Thanagar and Rann are not on good terms, the two planets have been in conflict before but recently it seemed like there would be peace until this started happening.
Thunderer: And you think there's a third party that would benefit from a war. But I don't think both sides will want to hear your version of the story without evidence?
Green Lantern. I know Luke, the Guardians have tasked me with leading a diplomatic mission to prevent incoming conflict, your job will be to represent the League and find out who is responsible.
Thunderer: It's not a bad plan but don't you think my presence might cause problems or add unnecessary pressure?
Green Lantern: No, I don't think so, your reputation precedes you. Everyone has heard about how you defeated Kal, and Thanagar respect strength and they are great warriors. I need someone to dissuade them from unnecessary outbursts of violence that could escalate an already tense situation even further.
Thunderer: All right, who else is gonna cover your ass so you don't cause an intergalactic incident.
I grinned.
Green Lantern: Very funny, that goes more for you.
He retorted.
Thunderer: When are we leaving?
Green Lantern: The summit starts in two days, so if we're leaving first thing tomorrow, I have to stop by the OA first, there's another Lantern who will be joining us there.
