Luke
I walk up the Lacey's front door and sigh looking at the big place.
I hope her fiancee doesn't have any problems with me coming for lunch. I hope he has no problems with me coming to see Charlie.
The door swings open and Lacey's beautiful face appears.
''What on earth were you doing?'' She asks me frowning. ''Thinking about this bad idea of yours and then realising it is actually a bad idea and then going to make a run for it?'' Her brows raise and she smiles.
''No.'' I shake my head. ''I just forgot to knock, so I was waiting for you to open even though I forgot to knock.''
''Of course..'' She nods and lets me in. I slide of my shoes and follow her into the kitchen to see her housekeeper making lunch and Charlie sitting in his high chair.
''Hey Charlie.'' I walk over to him smiling and do a little nod to greet the house keeper.
''We are going to wait outside, call us when food is ready, Okay Maria?'' Lacey tells Maria and picks up Charlie. I follow her outside and watch her put Charlie on the floor with a bunch of toys around him.
''So where is the man of the house?'' I ask her.
''Working.'' She sighs.
''I thought we were all going to have dinner together? And we could come with an agreement for me to be part of Charlie's life too.'' I tell her.
''Well work is more important to him than having lunch with his family, Luke.'' She looks at me and then at Charlie.
''Have you ever thought about packing your bags and leaving?'' I ask her.
She glares at me for a few seconds and then sighs. ''I couldn't do that.'' she shakes her head. ''He let me into his home and took care of us both when he could have left us to die like you did.'' She tells me.
My heart sinks making me feel guilt and pain; I sigh looking at her sad face. ''I was young and stupid, Lace.'' I say. ''I'm trying to make it up to you and Charlie.'' I pause. ''Look at me.'' I cup her cheeks in my hands. ''I'm here now.''
''That doesn't make anything better, Luke.'' She sighs. ''Charlie needs a home and food, he has it and is happy.'' She looks at her baby boy.
''If I could go back and take you in, it probably would have been worse, I infact had a hard time on the streets looking for a job and I'm not saying that what you went through wasn't worse but look at us now.'' I grab hold of her hands.
''Yeah, I'm going to get married and you are going to be a dad.'' She says.
''You are marrying this guy because you feared if you said no he would kick you out onto the streets again and that would you and Charlie homeless.'' I pause. ''But I'm here now.''
''Luke.'' She sighs. ''Thats so true.'' She smiles. ''So whats your plan?'' She grins.
''How about you pack your bags and Charlies and tomorrow I'll come for lunch again and will see if Fred is here or not, then I'll say I want to take Charlie out to the park, I'll have to bring my car.'' I smile. ''I'll load your stuff and then while he is doing whatever while you put Charlie in the car, we leave.'' I say.
''That is not one of your best ideas but you know what?'' She smirks. ''I love it.'' she wraps her arms around me and hugs me tightly. ''Thank you.''

I look at Lia who has fallen asleep and see her journal on the coffee table. I decide against taking it and reading it, just because she is no longer my patient but my beautiful girlfriend.
I pull her closer and kiss her forehead making her eyes flutter open.
''Sorry, I didnt mean to wake you.'' I say.
''Its alright.'' She smiles wrapping my arm around her and pulling the blanket up closer.
''Excited for Michaels wedding tomorrow?'' I ask smiling.
She norts. ''It will be the best wedding ever, when you see her priceless face of disappointment when he doesn't show up.'' She chuckles evilly .
''Arent you going to be a bridesmaid?'' I ask her.
''She can shove that idea up her ass.'' She mumbles. ''After what she said I ain't no bridesmaid.'' She says turning the channel over to friends.
I sigh smiling. ''When will we get married?'' I ask her.
''You want to marry me?'' She sounds surprised.
''Yeah, of course I do.'' I say. ''Why wouldn't I?'' I ask her.
She shrugs kissing my cheek. ''Because I'm not normal.'' She laughs lightly.
''We can both be not normal.'' I tell her.
''I don't think anyone would come to our wedding if we had an abnormal wedding.'' She says.
''Well its not for them, is it?'' I grin. ''Its for us.''
''We can get married, when we are ready.'' She sighs.
''I'm ready.'' I tell her. ''Arent you?''
She frowns looking at me. ''I dont know.''
''You don't know?'' I say. ''So what would be your answer if I asked you now?'' I ask her.
''Hmmmm.'' She pauses looking at me. ''No.'' She smirks.
''Ouch.'' I laugh. ''Why not?'' I say frowning.
''Because we would need a romantic story to tell how we got engaged, you asking me on the sofa while we joke about my best friends wedding and watch friends isn't romantic.''
''Yeah but we arent normal, so it would be done abnormally.'' I smirk.
She sighs looking at me. ''But we have only been dating for a couple of months.''
''So? We have known eachother for almost three years. It doesnt matter how long we have been with each other or how long we have know each other but how much we love each other and that we want to spend the rest of our lives together.'' I smile.
''But...'' She pauses. ''So you are asking me to marry you?'' she says.
''Well yeah..'' I meet her gaze and sit up properly looking at her, I pull out a ring that belonged to my grandmother.
''Oh my gosh.'' Her eyes widen and she covers her mouth with her hand. ''You carry that around with you?'' She blinks a few times.
''Lets just say, I was saving it for a rainy day.'' I smile. ''I mean if you dont like this one, we could go down to a shop and you could choose one-.'' I'm cut off by Lia's lips gently smacking onto mine.
''Yes.'' She pulls away whispering.
