Surprise!

Chapter 3

After Narvel and Reba gave each other a pep talk, they decided that it was time to go see a doctor.

Reba was so nervous that her hands were shaking so Narvel grabbed them, "it's okay. Everything is gonna be fine." He soothed "I'm not worried about the appointment, I'm worried about telling our parents!" Reba freaked. "Everything is going to be okay." He told her. She took a deep breath and nodded "It might would help of we were a little older though." "True, but we are going to the best parents we can be for our baby and the best couple for each other." He smiled, Reba looked over at him and smiled "We got this, don't we?" "We really do." Narvel smiled back. "But, where are we going to go if they kick us out?" She asked. "We can figure that out later. Let's go see our baby." He pulled into the parking lot of the doctors office. Reba got out and took his hand as they walked inside and over to the front desk.

"Good afternoon!" The receptionist greeted. "Hi." Reba said shyly. "We didn't have time to make an appointment but we really need one today." Narvel spoke for Reba."Okay, there is a opening at 2." The receptionist replied. "What time is it now?" Narvel asked. "1:45." She answered. "Perfect, how much do these appointments cost?" He asked. "350 each." She said Narvel looked at Reba "Um do we have to pay right away?" He didn't have enough money on him. "No, you pay and the end of the pregnancy." She told them, "How often do we come?" Narvel was going to do the math. "In the beginning every a couple of months. As she progresses the more often you will be coming in. By the end it's every two weeks." She explained. "So not every month?" Reba asked."It could be once a month." She said. "Yea, if feel more comfortable with that. If it's okay with you Narvel?" Reba looked at him. "It's okay with me." He shrugged, Reba smiled and kissed his cheek.

Reba and Narvel headed over to the waiting area and sat down, Reba held his hand tightly.

"It's okay honey." He soothed. "Narvel I'm worried that out parents will make us get rid of it." She told him. "They can't make us do that. It's our baby." He said. "We aren't adults, they can." Reba replied. "Baby its going to be okay." He told her. "What's our future look like?" She asked."It's going to be bright will this little one." He smiled.She gave him a weak smile and laid her head on his shoulder.

A few minutes later the doctor walked out, Reba took a shaky breath and looked at Narvel. "It's okay darlin." He soothed, She nodded and stood up when their name was called. They never let go of each other's hands.

Reba sat on a bed in the room and pulled up her shirt just below her breasts, there was a tiny bump toward her lower stomach. Narvel laid a protective hand over that tiny little bump. "I never even noticed." Reba said, he leaned over and kissed the tiny bump. Reba smiled and felt kind of awkward "That's something I'll have to get use to." "Absolutely." He smiled. She smiled down at him and the doctor walked in.

"Hey everybody!" The doctor smiled. "Hi." Reba replied. "Ready to see your baby." The doctor asked. "Yes!" She smiled big. Narvel held her hand and the doctor poured the gel on her stomach. The doctors turned the lights off and the machine on, Reba looked up at Narvel and smiled. A very strong heartbeat filled the room and Reba started crying "That's our baby?!" She said in disbelief. "Yes it is." He smiled big. Reba looked over at Narvel "We did that!" He kissed her her forehead.

"How far along am I?"reba asked. "From what I can see, you are 3 months." He said. "Is the baby healthy?" She asked smiling. "Very healthy." He smiled, that made Reba smile even bigger. "When can we find out what it is?" She asked. "In about six weeks." He told her. "Awe!" She was so excited.Narvel just sat there soaking it all in.

"It's so little." She cooed. "They're smaller than a peach and you should start growing more now." The doctor informed. Reba nodded in understanding.

He gave them some vitamins, booklets, and ultrasound pictures and sent them on their way. Reba and Narvel left in silence and drove to his parents house.

"Baby I'm so scared." Reba whimpered."Me too." He agreed as he held her hand tight.

He pulled into his driveway and Reba got out with him as they walked inside.

Narvel's parents walked downstairs to greet them. "Hi guys." His mom said. "Hi Mrs. Blackstock." Reba smiled as she tried her best to hide her nerves."We need to talk." Narvel told his parents. They all walked into the livingroom and sat down on the couch. "What's this about?" His dad asked. "There's no easy way in saying this,but I'm pregnant."
