The rooms were surprisingly clean, containing the basics such as a bed and drawers. "Not too shabby." Kuina voiced from behind me. She must've already seen her room, they're probably all the same anyway. "Right? I thought they'd be filthy, It's surprising how clean the beach is, especially considering the world we live in." I responded.

Kuina smiled at me before launching herself onto my semi-made bed, stretching her legs and placing a pillow behind her head, making me laugh to myself. "Oh, sorry! I should've asked first." She gasped, widening her eyes and returning the laugh.

I then flopped myself into the space beside her, looking up at the yellow tinted ceilings which had been engraved with intricate designs of flowers and plants. "This is so surreal." I mumbled, not meaning to say it aloud. Kuina then turned her head to face me. Her face didn't seem to be one of sadness, however her usual excited expression faded into one of tranquillity.

"Don't worry-" she paused, before taking a moment to figure out what she was going to say next. "You, me and Chishiya- We're going to get out of here." She said. Those words gave me reassurance that I could depend on her, however I was still unsure about Chishiya.

The thought of using Kuina for survival, knowing I may need to use her made me sad, it was almost sickening. I'd never felt this way about a person before, that's why I'd decided to become a therapist. I knew that If I were to lose a patient, the aftermath wouldn't make me feel guilty. I suppose therapists should feel remorse for others, but then again, I was an overachieving therapist for a reason.

I nodded my head in response, before sitting up to look out the misted window to my right. Dozens of people were crowding around the pool outside, dancing as if their lives depended on it. To some extent, I understood them. They all knew that today could be their last, that they could indeed die tonight.

A knock on the wooden entrance to my room made my head shoot round in surprise, I only just got here, how would anyone know my room number? I rolled my eyes, making Kuina giggle, as I threw myself off the bed to answer the door.

I was unamused to say the least, as I was greeted by a familiar smirk.

Chishiya leant on the edge of the doorway, obviously bored. "Hey Chishiya! Come in." Kuina shouted from across the room as she made space for the two of us on the bed. I let my hand topple off the door handle, which had been my stupid attempt to stop him from coming inside the room.

"Yeah, come in!" I said, trying not to sound too annoyed by his presence. I'd never be able to gain his trust like Kuina has if I come across as sarcastic. I didn't know much about him, but I knew that trying to outsmart him wasn't a good idea if I wanted to be his friend.

Chishiya stood there for a moment, waiting for me to step out the way. Upon realising, I widened my eyes and stepped aside, trying not to seem annoying. "Hey." He replied bluntly, before taking a seat in the front corner of the bed, obviously not wanting to appear too comfortable.

"Don't worry Chishiya, Akira doesn't mind!" Kuina said, patting the space next to her in an attempt to get Chishiya to lay down. Chishiya glared at Kuina, who had a smug look on her face as she ushered him to sit in one of the free spaces.

"No, I'm good." Chishiya stated, now inching even closer towards the edge of the bed. "I need to tell you guys about something anyway, and it's pretty serious." He added, making me suddenly gain interest in his presence.
