FADE IN:

INT. DENSE WOODS MID SPRING LATE AFTERNOON EARLY EVENING

Scene 1

Camera pans into a man standing at a campfire, stirring a can

of beans on a grate. A pan of sausages cook next to the beans.

Two children, 9 and 7, a boy and his younger sister, run

noisily around the campground, shrieking and laughing. A small

tent is close by, still waiting to be set up, and a rolled

sleeping bag rests against the tent. The children (boy chasing

girl) are running around the tent.

SPENSER: Age 20's, father of the two children, works as a

bartender.

SPENSER (finishing setting up his tent, holding his head because

he has a headache, looks at them and sighs, not angrily)

"James.......Emily..........Seriously Can't you be a little

quieter? We just got here, and you two are being really

loud. It's going to the bears come and get us"

(makes a growling noise) "Shh!See here they come!"

(Starts Chasing Emily)3

EMILY (shrieks with laughter and continues to run)

"I'm not afraid of the bears daddy. But daddy, James said

hes gonna throw me in the lake! Its gross in there!"

(more parenthetical's separate from dialogue)

JAMES

(James laughs maniacally, from where he had decided to

hide in, and wait for his sister)

Nuh Uh! Not me...the bear is gonna getcha!

SPENCER

(Shakes his head, breathing hard from running after his

daughter)

"Listen...if you can't be quieter, can you at least

move a little farther away? Scare some of the wild

animals away so they don't come after our supper. Which

reminds me, I need to make sure that I didn't burn it

like last time (Grins, and starts to turn,

then Emily Grabs his pants, turns around and looks down at her)

EMILY

(wide eyed, glances around the woods, and inches closer

to Spencer)

"D..Daddy, are there wild animals here?"

SPENSER (Nods, looking down at Emily)

"A few. Deer....Raccoon's...

(Grabs hold of Emily and tickles her)...Skunks!

(Emily shrieks and laughs.James peers into the woods,

looking frightened but still determined and begins itching

away from the campsite.
