Bang!

Yoon Ahreum was listening to the chirping birds outside as she was glancing at the little pond, a new lollipop in her mouth as usual. Her lunch break was nearly over and she needed to get some fresh air. Everything seemed calm even though it was a Friday. Smiling to herself, she remembered how she jinxed her very first Friday there at Doldam Hospital. The others weren't too happy about the mass of injured people rushing in that day. But she definitely learned her lesson; she never once said anything out loud until Friday ended ever since. Finishing her lollipop, she threw the stick in the trashcan and went back inside. 

- Unnie! Are you alright? - she asked her tall friend, Dr Cha. 

- Hm. Coffee break. - she said and Ahreum caught her smirking as she bypassed her. She knew exactly what coffee break actually meant: probably another couple session (either heated or not) in the nurses' room between her and Seo Woo Jin. Everyone knew about the secret rendez vous but no one seemed to be bothered enough to tell. Ahreum stopped and turned around at the end of the hallway. She saw the aforementioned doctor flashing a 200W smile on Cha Eun Jae as he let her get inside. 

- How romantic! - she smiled with a sigh and went on her way. 

- Tough day? - Woo Jin asked on a sweet tone as he embraced Eun Jae in a tight hug and planted a kiss on her hair. She breathed in his scent and crossed her arms around his waist. 

- Not anymore. - she said. - Yours?

- I thought I was gonna fall asleep mid-operation so I had to ask Dr Jung to finish it for me. - Eun Jae knew exactly the reason for that and she felt a little guilty. But not too guilty to regret the night they had together.

- Think you need coffee. Should we get some? - she asked, pulling away from the hug but Woo Jin pulled her back.

- No. I need you. - he said with a deep voice which gave Eun Jae the best kind of goosebumps. She cupped his face, but it was Woo Jin who kissed her first, passionately. 

Before things could get heated, they were alarmed by the sound of panic they usually had on an average day at Doldam. So Friday really did begin. 

As Park Eun Tak was rolling the newest patient on the hallway, Dr Seo and Dr Cha joined him, immediately asking for the patient's life signals and preliminary diagnose. The man lying on the stretcher was covered in blood on his chest.

- Was he shot? - Eun Jae asked.

- Probably. Let's get him to the ER! - Eun Tak said and they turned left.

Woo Jin took off his white coat so he could get an easier approach to the wounded as nurse Uhm injected the man some painkillers.

- Dr Cha, you're needed in OR one. - Nurse Joo said as she stepped into the Emergency Room. - her hair was in the usual bun, but this time she wasn't wearing her glasses. Cha Eun Jae would've noticed under any other circumstances and asked, but there was simply no time for such things now.

- Dr Seo, will you manage? - she asked before leaving.

- Get Dr Park, we're taking him to OR two once he's stabilized! - Woo Jin said, his hands already covered in blood.

Nurse Joo nodded and followed Eun Jae out of the room. At the end of the hallway, they separated, Eun Jae turned left and she turned right to get the co-head of the Trauma Center.

- What's happened to her? - Dr Cha asked as she entered the room and saw the mess. Her patient was supposed to be healing already and now she was on the edge of dying.

- Thrombosis in the chest.

- She needs surgery, now! Get Dr Jung, please! Suture! - she gave the orders and put on the glasses and mask.
