Chapter 5- The carnival

Delilah stomped through the hallways until she found Xavier in the shed that he had revamped to be like a little art room. Her eyes were purple,she didn't know why she was so sad about Wednesday leaving but she was.
"Bug? What's wrong?" Xavier asked concerned as he stood up opening his arms for the brunette. Delilah immediately ran into Xavier and clung onto him. She didn't answer his question,she just hugged him tight. She didn't understand why she felt sad but she'd grown fond of the goth over the past few days. Xavier pulled back from the hug looking at the timid girl.
"What happened Bug?" He asked once again.
'Wednesday's leaving and for some reason that makes me sad' Delilah signed in reply. Xavier nodded as he sat back on his chair. He didn't want to pry at the matter so he left it. He beckoned her over and lifted her onto his lap. Delilah watched as he continued painting before her eyes got heavy and her  head fell onto Xavier's shoulder.
"Tired Bug?" Xavier questioned looking down at the girl who nodded her eyes barely open. They classed each other more like siblings than anything.
"Let's get you to bed" Xavier murmured as he stood up. Delilah wrapped her legs around his waist and clung onto his shoulders tightly. There was silence as Xavier took Delilah back to her dorm. Once they got there, Xavier knocked on the door cringing at the sound not wanting to disturb Delilah. The door swung open and Wednesday stood on the other side glaring at the artist. He walked in and layed Delilah on her bed sending Wednesday an apologetic look before leaving. Enid was already fast asleep by now so Wednesday sighed before walking over to Delilah and throwing a blanket over her. Violet jumped up onto the bed and curled up at the bottom. Wednesday rolled her eyes and a look of disgust crossed her face as she walked back over to her typewriter.

*Time skip*
All three girls stood at the carnival together.
"Are you sure you can trust that normie?" Enid asked.
"I trust that I can handle myself" Wednesday muttered in reply.
"Well" Enid started turning to face Wednesday.
"Good luck and safe travels" She finished going in for a hug but Wednesday just gave her a weird look.
"Still not a hugger. Got it" Enid added before skipping off.
"What are you still doing here?" Wednesday asked Delilah looking at her curiously.
'I figured we could hang out a little longer before you...leave' Delilah signed and Wednesday nodded. She walked off into the fair towards a carnival game and Delilah tried to keep up making sure she didn't lose violet in the crowd. Wednesday picked up a dart throwing it at a balloon. She popped every balloon not missing one.
'Wow! You're really good' Delilah said and she smiled. The guy running the stall passed Wednesday a panda and she shoved it into delilah's hands.
"Here. It's for you" Wednesday muttered emotionlessly.
Delilah's grin got even bigger and she did happy feet.
Xavier spotted the two girls and walked over.
"Jeez, you get any better at this, you'll be taking home a whole pack" he spoke up stepping beside Delilah.
"Pandas don't travel in packs. They prefer solitude" Wednesday told him not even glancing in his direction.
"All right. Subtle hint taken" Xavier mumbled out and turned towards Delilah.
"Hi bug" he smiled looking at brunette and she waved back.
"You should know I'm waiting for someone" Wednesday added.
"Oh yeah, who's the lucky guy... or girl?" He wondered.
"What does it matter to you?" Wednesday asked calmly. Tyler popped up behind them and they all turned around.
"Didn't mean to interrupt" he mumbled. Delilah was scowling hard, boy she hated this kid.
"You're not" Xavier muttered and Delilah walked off with him.
'I can't believe she's leaving' Delilah signed as she looked down sadly.
"It'll be okay bug. I promise" Xavier reassured. They walked around for a while and went to a few of the stalls. As they were walking Delilah spotted Wednesday running into the woods behind the carnival. Her eyes went crimson red and she felt a pain in her chest.
'Take this. And keep violet with you for me. I gotta go' she signed to Xavier before shoving the panda into his arms and hanging him Violets leash. She ran into the woods following Wednesday not even giving Xavier a chance to reply. She found Wednesday, she was up against a tree and Rowan was stood there using his telekinesis to do it.
"I have to kill you" she heard Rowan mutter and that's when she know she had to act fast. Delilah ran towards him pushing him down onto the floor and pinning him there.
"Delilah! What are you doing?!" Wednesday yelled and Delilah turned to face her still pinning Rowan down.
'Saving you' she signed and turned back around only to be met by a fist straight to the face. She whimpered and fell onto her back. Rowan pushed himself up.
"You're gonna regret that Delilah" he growled before using his powers to throw her into a tree. She hit the tree with a thud and fell to the ground not moving.
"Delilah! Rowan what have you done to her?!" Wednesday screamed.
"She won't stop me from killing you" he grumbled. He pulled out a picture showing it to Wednesday.
"The girl in the picture. That's you" Rowan explained.
"You want to kill me because of some picture"Wednesday asked slightly confused.
"My mother drew that picture 25 years ago when she was a student at Nevermore. She was a powerful seer. Told me about it before she died" Rowan continued.
"Rowan, put me down" Wednesday hissed.
"No! My mother said it was my destiny to stop this girl if she ever came to Nevermore, because she will destroy the school and everyone in it" he snapped using his powers to push on Wednesday's chest harder. Delilah staggered from her spot on the ground and tried her best to hobble over to Rowan so she could stop him but before she could get close the monster came out of no where and attacked him. Wednesday dropped to the ground before running over to Delilah who now sat in the heap on the ground as she watched the scene unfold. Her eyes were a mix of black,purple and red now, Wednesday had never seen anything like it. She immediately stepped in front of Delilah to shield her from the scene in front of them. The monster turned to look at both girl before taking off. Wednesday immediately ran over to Rowan taking the picture his mother had drawn before crawling back over to Delilah. She was rocking back and forth, her eyes flooded with tears as she stared at Rowan.
"Delilah?" Wednesday mumbled looking at the brunette concerned. Delilah didn't reply, she just sat there. Wednesday called for help before passing out. Xavier took Delilah back to her dorm,he couldn't get a reaction out of her either. He carried her back to Nevermore and she went limp in his arms. She couldn't comprehend what she had just witnessed in front of her.
