Everything is blurry and my eyes are still adjusting to the light. I look over my bedside table to see that my alarm clock is busted. I sit up and then the door suddenly burst open. Loud, piercing barks filled the room. My head's ringing and spinning.

"Okay okay I'm getting up!" I stand up with my hands covering my ears while giving my dog evil stares. I guess I don't need to buy a new alarm clock.

"Lois? Sweetie, are you awake? Come down here!" I hear my mom calling me from downstairs.

I put my glasses on and head downstairs. I see my mom cooking up some bacon and eggs. Mmmm that smells good. My mom has always been a good cook. One time for my 7th birthday she made me this huge birthday cake like 6 ft tall. It had 7 layers and each layer had different flavors. I have this picture where I had the goofiest smile with icing all over my face with the ginormous cake behind me. That was probably the best birthday I've had so far.

"Oh, good you're here. Someone left a package for you, it's in the living room." she said while filling my plate with bacon.

"A package?" I asked. "Yeah, I don't know who sent it though. It didn't have anything written on it but your name." She sounded suspicious.

"Creepy. Maybe there's a dead body inside of it or like a nuclear bomb or maybe an unknown virus that will start an apocalypse!" I blurted.

"Lois just eat your bacon." And so, I did.

I am disappointed. I expected like a space rat or something inside the package but when I opened it, it was just a box. A simple black, boring, ugly box. What the hell is this? I try opening it and it won't even budge. I inspect it too see if there's anything written on it that will give me a hint on what it is or what's inside of it.

I pick up the box and it feels weightless. I turn it over and the bottom had weird markings all over. Huh. I tried opening it again but I just can't get it open.

I feel my phone vibrate from my pocket. It's dead. I toss the box over to my bed and sigh. I pick up my charger, plug it in and see the colors from my phone screen slowly regaining.

"Wassup Lois?" I see Finn entering my room.

"What are you doing here?" I asked with an obvious tone of irritation.

"Is it so bad to visit my neighbor slash my friend since the first grade?" He looked offended by my tone.

"Where's mom? Did she let you in?" Finn nodded.

I call out for my mom. "MOM! I told you not to let in Finn!"

"I don't take orders from a sixteen-year old!" She yelled back. I roll my eyes.

"So, what do you want?" I turn my swivel chair to face Finn.

"Okay I heard about the mysterious box you received. Let me see." I didn't notice he was carrying a bag.

"I brought my key collection!" Yep. He collects keys for a hobby. KEYS! I mean who does that? He's a weirdo, but I actually kind of like that part of him I don't know I guess I'm a weirdo too. I grab the box and give it to Finn.

"I really don't think you'll open it with your keys." I say as I turn side to side with my swivel chair.

"Hey, you never know! I've been accumulating these babies since I was 3."

"Yeah maybe they can finally have some use." He fumbles in his bag for his keys. He took one out and tried it. It didn't open.

"Shocker." I spat. He eventually stopped after several attempts.

"Did you really think that was going to work?" I ask.

"Yes." He lays down on my bed and sighs.

"What do you think is in that box?" He looks at me.

"I don't know, probably nothing." I turn to face my computer.

"Nothing? Don't you think there's a reason why the box would be sealed?"

I really don't care for the box. I gave up on it 5 minutes after I got it.

"I really don't care anymore, if you're so curious about the box just take it with you." He seems to be considering of actually taking it.

"Nah.Keep it.", he fumbles for his bag of keys. "Anyway, I'm off. I'll see ya later loser. Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone." He winks at me, and it almost made me barf a little. Idiot.

It is raining. I hate the rain, I become all gloomy and sad whenever it rains. All the negativity in the world surround me when it rains. I feel all my problems around my shoulder piling up and it is a very unpleasant feeling I'll tell you that. Don't even get me started with lighting and thunder. Nope.

And as if on cue, the power went out. Wow, when was the last time we had a blackout? "Mom?" I shouted. I walk around with only the faint light of my phone accompanying me. I walk down the stairs and hear a cry. The crying got louder as I continue going down. I feel a tickling, furry sensation on my feet and realize it was Ira.

"Hey buddy, don't worry it's just thunder." I pat her head. I place the light in front of her snout and her eyes are speaking.

She was making some kind of expression. It's like her eyes are telling me a story. A dark twisted story I can't quite comprehend. I have never seen her this scared, and it's slowly getting to me. I feel a lump in my throat and I doesn't matter how many times I swallow because it's still there. I call out again for my mom, but I received no kind of reply but silence.

I feel my body tremble with fear. Fear that's creeping up to me from behind ready to engulf me in the darkness. I feel a cold breeze past through me and see that the window behind me is open. I stand up and my feet are nailed to the floor. I feel sick to my stomach; my palms are sweating but there's something pulling me to the window. An unexplainable force is telling me to come near. I take one step and my chest tightens. Every step I take it gets harder for me to breathe until finally I reach the window.

Time stood still.

I swallow and realize that the lump in my throat is gone. I can breathe normally again. Everything around me is sitting still. The raindrops frozen in midair. Not one organism even dares to move nor made a sound. The silence was deafening. This is wrong, everything feels wrong. I shouldn't be here. My throat began to constrict again and it's suddenly all I can think about. I find myself surrounded by thorns. Razor-sharp thorns circled around my neck and chocked me.

My neck is burning and bleeding from the poison that the needles are injecting inside my veins. It crawled up to my face and into my eyes. The thorns crushed my spectacles and the shattered pieces went inside my eyes. I try to call for help, but my voice was nowhere to be found. This has got to be a dream, right? This isn't really happening. I can't die now. I just can't, I'm too young, too unexperienced for all this to happen. My mind is going blank and I can't see anything anymore. I pass out.

I burst up and hear my dog screaming at me.

Just before my mind went blank I saw a dark figure with red beady eyes in front of me. The dark entity whispered something but I
