It was Percy's first day back to school after the giant war, and he couldn't wait. Now I know, blah blah blah, school's terrible and all that, but he was ready for a dose of normality after fighting gods, giants, and primordials. Anyways, back to the story. As soon as he entered the school, three of Percy's friends, Sydnie, Gillian, and Dawson ran up to them. Sydnie and Gillian appeared to be arguing about something again, and Dawson was just standing there watching them with an amused expression.
"Hey, guys!" Percy greeted them. "Where's Brianna?" Brianna Levesque was the last member of their little group. The happy expressions on their faces became guarded, as they struggled to answer Percy's question.
" Uh, ah umm," Gillian stuttered, "She's... at the library! Yeah, the library." She lied, smiling and nodding when the others joined in. Then, Percy heard yelling from the other end of the corridor.
"I found it! I found it! I uprooted every bookstore in the city, but i found it!" Sydnie, Gillian and Dawson all exchanged wide-eyed glances before shaking their heads and gesturing the person yelling to stop. Percy turned. He saw Brianna waving a book, and although he couldn't make out the title, the cover image looked like three giants, battling three people, one with blonde hair, glasses and lightning flashing around him, one with a bow standing on what seemed like an ancient greek temple, and one on a horse, waving a gold sword. Hazel, Frank, and Jason. Percy was just about to ask where she had gotten that book when the speaker crackled to life.
"All students, please go to the gymnasium for a special presentation." the voice of the principal, Mr. Noble, announced. Percy and Dawson walked ahead while the girls strayed a little farther behind, apparently bickering about something.
" I don't care!" He heard Brianna say. "I've read enough fanfictions to know what is going to happen! You both have too, don't try to deny it. Besides, he's going to freak out if he finds out we knew, and didn't tell him."
"You have a point," Gillian agreed. "but, he'll have to understand that we did it for the right reasons, right?"
"No." Sydnie said, shutting him down. "It changed him, and he's unpredictable now."
"Yeah." Brianna replied. " I flipped through it, and there are some pretty wild scenes. He's unpredictable. They're unpredictable."
By now, they had reached the gym. Percy turned and looked around, searching for empty seats. Finally they found some, right in the middle of the bleachers. Percy turned to the stage, and his eyes widened when he saw who was there. He saw Brianna give a victorious smirk out of the corner of his eye, before exchanging wide eyed glances with the others before kneeling. On the stage were the twelve olympians. Percy glared at Apollo and Hermes, giving them his I will tear you apart, feed you to a shark, then throw you into Tartarus glare. Apollo and Hermes practically shriveled under his expression, but managed to smile and wave at him. His friends got up and sat back in their seats as Athena walked up to the microphone.
"Now then. Who knows about greek mythology?" She asked.
"Ask Percy Jackson or his loser friends. They know the most." The school jock, Andrew, piped up from his spot next to his on again off again girlfriend, Madison.
"Alright then. Would one of you please come up here and do your best job of explaining, as I am sure that you are completely aware of the current situation. Not you, Perseus."
Brianna stood up and made her way to the stage.
"As some of you already know," She shot a pointed look in our direction. "The forces you call greek gods, are very much alive. The fact is, immortal means immortal, never dying, never fading, just existing as you are, for all time. Western civilisation is not an abstract concept. It is a living force, and you could say that the gods are the source of it, or at least tied to it so tightly that they cannot possibly fade unless all of western civilisation were to be obliterated. The flame started in Greece, then moved to Rome, Germany, France, Spain for a while, and now they are here. Olympus is here, the underworld is here, the demigods, both greek and roman are here, as well as the monsters. I'm guessing we're all here to read about the titan and giant wars, right?" she asked.
The olympians were completely shell-shocked. Athena, recovering the quickest, asked her how she knew all of this.
"I read," Brianna replied. "and actually, I have a plan to embarrass a certain someone." She added on, before going and whispering in athena's ear.
"You said we had to read about a war," Jaden, one of the jerky jocks, said. "so which war? world war 2?"Brianna dramatically facepalmed.
"Did you not just hear me say the titan and giant wars? Like, seriously! Were you even listening to my explanation?"
"wait, what? did you say something?" he asked.Brianna, once again, dramatically facepalmed along with Athena, Artemis, and half of the student body of Goode high.
"Anyway, these books are from the viewpoint of a certain Perseus, son of Poseidon, slayer of the Furies, the Minotaur, the son of Sobek, and the Gorgons; retreiver of the Master Bolt, the shield of Ares, the scarf of Aphrodite, the caduceus of Hermes, the crown of Ptolemy, and the helm of Darkness; defeater of Ares, Hades, Kronos, Atlas, Hyperion, Iapetus, Polybotes, Ephialtes, Otis, Gaea, Phobos, and Setne; host of Nekbet; wanderer of the Labyrinth; survivor of Tartarus, the Sea of Monsters, and the lair of the Lotus Eaters; and a whole bunch of stuff that if I listed we would be here all day." She finished.
Mr. Peverell, the latin teacher, spoke up." I'm sorry Ms. Levesque, however you are mistaken. Perseus was the son of Zeus, not Poseidon."
Brianna looked her teacher straight in the eyes, and responded.
" I'm not talking about that Perseus. I'm talking about the senior and swim team captain at goode, Perseus Jackson."
