I was walking through the woods like I do every day. It's the only way for me to get away from it all. All the executions, all the crime, all the guards. They took my life away, and this is the only way for me to get hers back.
The year was 3165. My town was a new town, it's called West-fox village. Even though it's new it looks like it's centuries old. There is litter everywhere, graffiti in the alleyways, and almost all the buildings are made of brown bricks or wood. Other towns are the exact opposite, they have clean streets, no graffiti, and everything is made of white marble.
I likes to climb trees and think of how life would be if the guards were gone. It would be amazing to be free from everything, except for the fact that I can't really gather food, I thought. If only she could - there was a rustling noise in the bushes. I broke a small limb off the tree, which was a stupid choice. I'm not good at close combat, any combat really. But I approached the noise slowly with her stick raised and her hands shaking.
"Hello." A voice said, it was a boy's voice, probably about seventeen.
"W-who are you? Show yourself." I said, my voice trembled and I hated that.
"I'm Kage, who are you?" The voice said.
Lux responded "I-I'm Lux, why are you in a bush?" I lowered my stick and peering into the bush.
"Oh umm I fell and I'm kinda stuck. Can you help me?" He said.
"Sure. What are you doing here anyway?" I asked confused while pulling him out of the bush.
He was skinny with black hair. He was a bit taller than me and had dark brown eyes. He was wearing a white t-shirt with blue jeans, and a black jacket.
On the other hand I was wearing a simple yellow shirt and jeans, with my blond hair tied up in a ponytail.
"I-I ran away, my sister was executed yesterday and I knew I couldn't stay so I ran away." He said.
Why did he trust me with that? I wondered, I could have easily gone and reported him.
"Do you have any family out here or maybe friends?" I asked him.
"It's just me out here, my sister was my last family and everyone at school stays away from me."
"Why do they stay away from you?" I asked, not knowing what it's like to go to school. You see, I don't have parents so I can't have a fund for school.
"Well, it's because I'm... different. I can control shadows." He said that as if it was a bad thing.
"You're not different, I can control light and fire." I said gathering a ball of fire and putting it out.
"Wow." He breathed.
"And since you can control shadows you can hide us better." I said dusting off my hands.
"What do you mean hide us?" He asked suspiciously.
"I mean, if we are going to run away, we need extra protection." I told him.
"What do you mean if we are going to run away, haven't we already?" He asked.
I rolled my eyes, "We need to move as far away from here as possible. They will come looking for us and we can't risk getting caught."
"Ok so what's the plan?" He asked
"Well, you see, Kage, we need to head east, but not directly east because they will find us if we head in a straight line."
"Ok, so just head east?" He asked.
"Yes, you ready?" I asked.
"Now?" He asked.
