Walking to the river

Gabriel stands next to me on

He tells me to wait for the mermaids

" They'll be arriving soon " he says

One by one

Mermaids arrive

Smiling and waving at us

Digging into his pocket

Gabriel gives me some junky jewelry

He tells me to throw it to the mermaids

" They'll love our gifts " he says

Following his lead

I toss the jewelry down to the mermaids

They smile happily

And are more than grateful

Grateful for our gifts

Looking down at the river

Seeing the mermaids disappear under

the river

The sun is shining

We'll see how this day goes
