Chapter 2

I looked at my reflection in the mirror as I stood in my bathroom still dripping wet. "Its OK. I probably won't even find him today" I told myself as I wrapped large bathrobe around my slender frame. It was my birthday today and as I strolled over to my desk to start working on my hair and makeup I couldn't help but feel a little excited about the party that was to come.

Everyone is waiting for you.

I heard my brother over the pack link. I hadn't seen Law all day. Him and Cole had spent the day meeting and greeting all the new wolves that had arrived for the party.

Well they can wait a little longer.

I teased as I got up and walked to my wardrobe looking for the dress I would wear tonight.

It was a simple dress. Strapless with a mix of black and deep violet colors. I looked at myself one last time in the mirror before turning and heading down stairs.

i entred the ballroom that was now crouded by over 200 people.

"you look amazing" Amber squealed as she came running over to me throwing her arms around me. "Happy Birthday Nina"

i gave her a huge smile "thanks Amber. this looks amazing." i said gesturing to the beautifully decorated room.

"i only planned it out. your brother did all the work" she smiled softly and rubbed her belly a little. "wouldn't let me do any heavy lifting"

"speaking of my brother wear is he?" i asked. Amber opened her mouth to answer when suddenly we heard Law clear his throte loudly as he wraped his arm around Amber. "can i have your attention please". it was kindof odd to see 200 people turn there head all at once. "i would like to just say Happy Birthday to my younger sister Nina" Law turned his head to look at me before looking back at the crowd. "please join me in making this night a spectaculer one for her" Law raised his glass to the crowd as a huge appause erupted throughout. Law leaned down to me kissing me on the cheek "happy birthday Nina" he whispered before turning and leading amber away into the crowd.

all of a sudden i had people crowding me wishing me happy birthday and wanting to meat me. i had to get out of there. i gave them a polite excuse and told them i was going to get a drink. As I turned to walk away that's when it happened.

It was like the whole world fell silent and all I saw was him. The most beautiful man I had ever seen. His eyes were like looking into the deepest part of the sea and his dark hair framed his strong jaw line so perfectly. His body was like it had been perfectly sculpted from marble with its wonderful dark tanned skin. He was perfect.

I felt my wolf dragging me towards him as his eyes locked with mine. I wanted to run into his arms and take in his scent. The scent of my mate.

as i took a step towards him that's when i saw the panic in his eyes. i froze confused for a second and that's when i came to my own senses.

No! this is wrong. i thought to myself. it cant be him. that's impossible.

i looked around the room to see if anyone had noticed. seeing that no one had i quickly made my way outside.i quickly ran out of the front door of the pack house and without even stopping to take my cloths off i burst into my wolf form shredding the dress i was wearing.

Nina!

i heard my mate calling to me through the mate link as i ran through the trees.

no no not him it cant be him. i kept telling myself over and over as i faught back the tears.

suddenly a huge brown wolf landed on me pinning me the the grownd. touching him was the most amazing feeling like lightning running through my skin.

Nina wait. talk to me.

i looked up at Cole. i cant belive i had never realised how beautiful he was until now.

it wasn't meant to be you

i yelled back at him. the tears had started to escape and i could no longer fight them. Cole lowered his head and closed his eyes.

i know Nina. i cant understand it either.

Cole moved off me and i stood up again taking a step back from him even thoe my heart cried out to be near him. and its at that moment it hit me.

Thy cant know. they will kill us.

i looked up at him the panic plain on his face. i knew it was true. i was supposed to have an alpha mate. it would never be acceptable to be with a bata

i saw the confusion and than the realisation cross Coles face as he nodded his head and than turned and bolted away from me. i collapsed in the grass as i let the tears fall from my face.

i steeped out of the shower looking at my reddened eyes in the mirror. Amber had come up early to see why i had left the party. i told her i had a little to much to drink and needed to sleep it off.

as i layed down on my bed i could hear a wolfs hows in the distance. i knew it was Cole. he must be hurting as much as i am. i rolled over and tried to put this whole situation out of my mind.
