TWO YEARS EARLIER

Two years before the events, I found myself at a party with my father and his best friend, MaxMillan. My father's name was Daniel, and he and MaxMillan were huddled in a corner, deep in conversation.

I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I could tell that it was something important. They were speaking in hushed tones, their expressions serious.

I tried to ignore them, mingling with the other guests at the party. But something about their conversation kept nagging at me. It was as if they were talking about something dangerous, something secretive.

I couldn't help but overhear snippets of their conversation. "It's a risk," I heard MaxMillan say. "But it's worth it. The payoff will be huge."

"I don't know," my father replied, his voice troubled. "It's too risky. We could get caught."

"We won't get caught," MaxMillan insisted. "We've got it all planned out. Trust me."

But my father didn't look convinced. "I don't know," he repeated. "It's too dangerous. We could lose everything."

That's when the argument started. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but I could tell that they were getting heated. And then, all of a sudden, MaxMillan stormed out of the party, leaving my father fuming.

PRESENT

After the man told me what he knew, I was stunned. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. My father had been killed by the Unseen, a powerful crime organization. And MaxMillan, was a part of it.

I was filled with anger and disgust. How could MaxMillan have betrayed my father like that? How could he have been involved in something so dangerous and evil?

I recalled the conversation I had overheard at the party, MaxMillan had tried to convince my father to join the Unseen. Now it all made sense. MaxMillan had wanted my father to become a part of the organization, all for the greed of power and money. But my father had refused, deciding to take a stand against them instead.

I was fuming, exhausted, lost. I couldn't believe that my father's best friend had betrayed him like that.

Everyday goes past and my questions keep piling up, why was my father targeted or what was it that my father and MaxMillan were going to do for the Unseen that was so risky and so important? I was determined to find out the truth, no matter what.

I stood up, my fists clenched. "I'm going to expose them," I said, my voice shaking with anger. "I'm going to make them pay for what they did to my father, for what they did to my family."

The man nodded, his expression grave. "Your father was a fearless man, he had his flaws, but he has surely grown up a brave daughter, but be careful," he said. "The Unseen are a powerful organization and people like us are no threat for them".

But I didn't care. I was determined to find out the truth, no matter the cost. And I was willing to do whatever it took to get justice for my father.
After the man left, my uncle and I headed back home. My uncle was angry, pacing back and forth in the car as he lectured me about the danger of what I was proposing.

"You can't just go around fighting crime organizations," he said, his voice stern. "You're just a 19 year old girl. You don't even know how to fight."

I knew that he was just trying to protect me, but his words stung. I couldn't help but feel lost, like I was in over my head.

"What should I do then?" I asked, my voice trembling. "Just accept what happened and move on? Let my family's killers get away with it?"

My uncle sighed, shaking his head. "I don't know," he said. "But going up against the Unseen by ourselves is suicide. We should go to the police, let them handle it."
