Based on a true story

It was the 1970s. Effie had already been working a year with one beautiful family as a nanny for a 3-year-old little girl. She had grown to love the child as if she were her own and took great pride in nurturing and caring for her. The family was warm and loving, and Effie felt grateful to be a part of their lives. However, despite her happiness in her job, Effie couldn't help but feel deeply saddened by the state of her own family.

Years of trying to have children had taken a toll on her and her husband, as they could not conceive for various reasons. The disappointment and regret had consumed her, and she often wondered what could have been. The longing for a child of her own was a constant ache in her heart, and she couldn't shake the feeling that something was missing in her life. Despite her struggles, Effie never lost hope, and her love for her husband never wavered. Together they continued to hold on to their dreams.

But as the years passed, it became increasingly difficult for Effie and her husband. And then one day, she heard the words that would change her life forever.

"Leave," said Effie's mother-in-law, her voice cold and bitter. "You make my son unhappy. You can't give him a child." The words were like a dagger to Effie's heart, causing her to feel hurt and betrayal. She had never felt so alone and devastated in her life.

Effie loved her husband deeply, and she knew that he loved her just as much. Together, they had been fighting against their fate, going through treatments and procedures in the hopes of starting a family. But despite their love, the pressure from his mother and relatives made it even more difficult. They blamed her and made her feel guilty and responsible for their son's unhappiness. The constant accusations and criticism made her feel like she was the cause of their suffering. The weight of their expectations and disappointment was overwhelming. Effie's heart was heavy with the burden of guilt. And the harsh words of her mother-in-law were the last straw.

"I am leaving," said Effie one day to her husband. her voice trembling with emotion, "you deserve to be happy, to become a father." She looked at him, her heart heavy with sadness and regret. He sat there with his head bowed, unable to meet her gaze. Effie could feel his pain, and his uncertainty, and knew that his mother's words and actions had finally taken a toll on him.

She felt a deep sense of loss and heartache as she realized that her husband could not fight for her, and did not fight. Effie gathered her belongings, Her heart ached as she looked at him, still sitting on the couch with his face covered by his hands, unable to even look at her. She said goodbye and left the house.

She found solace in the family she worked for as a nanny. They were a loving and caring family, who went out of their way to support Effie and make her feel like a part of their family. They helped her to heal and find peace within herself, during such a difficult time.

One day, she received a letter from her husband. As she read his words, she felt her heart swell with a mix of emotions. He wrote of how much he loved her, how much he missed her, and how sorry he was for not being able to fight for her in the past. He wrote that he couldn't bear the thought of living without her and the words made her feel both happy and heartbroken at the same time.

Effie couldn't help but ponder over the hope that they could ever be happy together again. Could his mother ever accept her and welcome her back into their home? Was she ready to face the same struggles and difficulties that had led to her leaving in the first place? She couldn't help but think about the pain in her husband's eyes, the guilt and sadness that had consumed him, and wondered if she was ready to see that again. She loved her husband deeply and wanted him to be happy but she was not confident that she could give him the happiness he deserved. She was torn between her love for him and the uncertainty of their future together. She did not answer.

One night, Effie was awakened by a sharp pain in her stomach. The family she was living with quickly took her to the nearest hospital, filled with fear and uncertainty about what was wrong with her. After a series of tests and examinations, the doctor delivered the devastating news that Effie was suffering from a condition called Uterocromia, which required her uterus to be removed. The news hit her like a huge sword, slicing through her heart and crushing her hopes and dreams.

Effie had never received this diagnosis before, and she had held onto a sliver of hope that she and her husband would be able to start a family together. But now, that hope was gone, and she felt like everything was over. She was heartbroken, not only for herself but for her husband as well. She didn't want to see him suffer any longer, he should know that there was no hope for them, that he should move on. She wrote a letter to him, asking him to find happiness without her and to let her go.

The operation was planned in five days, it passed so fast. She didn't get any response from her husband, maybe it was even better she thought as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Effie laying on the surgical table, feeling a sense of hopelessness and isolation. The doctors and nurses were scurrying around her, their voices raised in a jumble of medical jargon and urgent commands. Someone was laughing, someone was discussing their plans for the day. They were so engrossed in their work and personal lives that it seemed as if they had overlooked her presence, and she felt like nothing more than a faceless patient to them. She felt cold, as the door to the operating room suddenly burst open, revealing a doctor dressed in scrubs and a surgical mask. He rushed towards her, and she felt her heart pounding in her chest with fear and confusion. She couldn't understand what was happening, and why this doctor was rushing towards her. But as he got closer, he reached out and took her hand in his, and with one swift motion, he pulled off his medical mask. And there he was, it was her husband, the man she loved.

She was shocked, she couldn't believe her eyes, She was overwhelmed with emotions, her heart was racing, and she felt relief, happiness, and confusion at the same time. She saw the determination in his eyes and she knew that he was there for her. She could not find a word but he did.

"I am so sorry, please forgive me," he whispered. "I love you more than my own life. I was weak before, but not anymore. I will not let them cut you, let's just run away from here together, anywhere you want, just you and me."

Effie's eyes widened with confusion. "But the surgery, they told me it's important," she said, her voice trembling.

"I don't trust them, Effie," he replied, his voice firm with determination. "We've seen so many doctors, and they've all given different diagnoses. They're just in it for the money. I will not let them treat you like a piece of meat. We'll get a second opinion, and we'll find someone who will truly care for you. Now hurry, I brought you clothes."

Effie nodded and obeyed, her heart filled with a mix of emotions. She was grateful for her husband's love and devotion, but she was also scared of what the future held. But she didn't let her fears hold her back, not anymore. They were together and that was all that mattered. They slipped out of the hospital unnoticed and made their way to the picturesque countryside, where they could be alone and start a new chapter in their lives. She quickly penned a letter to the family she worked for, explaining her decision and expressing her gratitude for the time she spent with them.

It only took a few days for Effie and her husband to find another doctor and get new diagnostics done. And to their surprise and relief, they discovered that Effie was absolutely healthy. There was nothing wrong with her that required surgery. This news came as a shock to Effie, who had been preparing herself for the worst. She had been so convinced that surgery was the only option, that this new discovery was hard to process.

But life had even more surprises in store for them. Effie and her husband were living their happiest moments together, without a care in the world. They had put their past struggles behind them and were focused solely on the present and their future together.

And then, one day, Effie's joy knew no bounds when she discovered that she was pregnant. She couldn't believe this miracle and knew that it was a gift for their courage, their devoted love, and their unwavering hope for each other. They knew that this was just the beginning of their happy lives.

And let me tell you, they were absolutely right.
