Normani~
"Chance!?"
"Mama you don't have to yell." Chance stepped into the bathroom with her Nintendo Switch in hand.
"Well I didn't know if you had those headphones on or not." Normani touched up her lipstick, "I'm going out with Ms. Megan for a few hours. Do you want anything back?"
"Hot fries would be nice."
"Okay. How do I look?"
"Great."
"I'd believe you if you would actually look at me."
Chance looked up at her mother and scanned her outfit from head to toe. "You're going shopping in the flats that you always say make hurt your feet. Maybe change into some comfortable, closed toe shoes?"
"Hm, I didn't notice. Thank you."
Chance nodded and Normani's face grew concerned. "What's wrong with you today?"
When Chance didn't say anything, Normani sighed and turned to face her. "I can't help you if you don't open your mouth baby, what's wrong?"
"My dad called." She spoke lowly, but Normani was still able to hear her.
"What did he say?"
"He said he wanted me to come visit him for Thanksgiving and Winter break and that he wanted me to meet his wife and my siblings. I told him I'd think about it but I don't know if I want to go."
"Isn't this what you wanted?"
"Well... Yes but I haven't spoken to him in almost a year. Aside from the happy birthday texts and occasional zelle payments, I get nothing. He doesn't even care to spend time with me but expects me to drop everything and come stay with him? During my favorite holidays at that."
"Chance you don't have to go if you don't want to."
"I kinda do, but I don't at the same time. I don't know how to feel about meeting his new family."
"You don't have to do anything you don't want to. I'm always here for you. I know you don't necessarily like your dad too much, but maybe going to visit him wouldn't be such a bad thing. It'll give you guys a chance to talk and you'll get some answers on why he left you and barely speaks."
"Maybe."
Normani felt sorry for her daughter. The last thing she wanted was for her to have a strained relationship with her dad and no matter how hard she tried to make things easier for the both of them, he still screwed it up because he refused to do his part as a parent. It pained Normani to see her daughter experiencing the opppsite of what she recieved growing up. Normani's mom was never around, but she had her dad. Now Chance has her and her dad doesn't even bother to come around. When he does, Chance struggles with whether she should go or not because there's a chance he may not even want her around.
"Can we talk more about this when I get home? I promise I will help you figure this out. While I'm gone, compile a list of pros and cons about you going to visit. We'll compare and see what the best choice may be, but ultimately... Listen to your head Chance. Your heart is going to pull you towards how you feel, but your head knows all of your inner thoughts. Use them."
"Thank you mommy." Chance hugged Normani, "I'll see if I can come up with a decision on my own first. If I can't, we can talk about it."
Normani nodded and smiled, "My girl. I'll see you in a bit. Hot fries, right?" She begin walking down the stairs
"Right, but don't rush back. Take your time with Ms. Megan." Chance smiled innocently.
"Okay?" Normani questioned it.
