Saving Kas

Chapter 8

Nora listened to the rain against her window as she lay in bed clutching her pillow stained with mascara from her tears, she felt helpless she couldn't bear to think of what Kas was going through, she softly sang through her tears " there will come a Solider who carries a mighty sword he will tear your city down oh lei oh lai oh lord" she choked out
A soft knock on her bedroom door stopped her tears she collected her self and softly said " come in."
Nora was happy too see her big brother standing in the door way.
" how ya doin kid ?" Steve asked
Nora smiled " you sound just like  dad "
" is that a good thing ?" Steve asked
" it is, definitely.I um I miss him I'm afraid for him I'm sick of things always getting in between us, we haven't had any peace our entire relationship."
" was that before or after he turned into the creature of the night?" Steve joked
Nora tilted her head as if she was saying " really ? "
Steve chuckles, which made Nora smile, she was so happy her brother was safe, had Vecna taken him too life would no longer have a purpose for Nora, of course she loved her parents to death but they were always gone on business trips and vacations leaving Steve and Nora home alone. As little kids they fought all the time but as they grew older and after there 1st encounter in the upside down having watched Steve almost be eaten to death by bats her relationship with Steve has gotten stronger, sure they still argue from time to time but Steve has been Nora's number 1 support system since Eddie passed away.
" I can't bare to think of what Vecna is doing to him Steve, I swear if he  lays one finger on Kas"  . 
Nora sniffles and wipes her eyes, Steve sits next to her and wraps his arm around her shoulder.
" Nora I promise you were going to get him back, Everyone has been working round the clock to come up with a plan.Kas is smart he knows Vecna better then anyone I promise you he will be okay."
" how do you know that Steve?"
" because he knows he has you to come back you. Just like Eddie did all those times he was about to do something stupid, one look at you and he changed his mind very quickly. Even as a vampire he is crazy about you. That's how I know."
" I hope your right Steve." Nora says as she glanced at the picture of her and Eddie on her night stand.

Kas struggled against the vines bound around his wrist and feet.
He glared at Vecna with his glowing red eyes as he paced back and forth in front of Kas. " I didn't want it to be this way Kas, i hate having to restrain you like an animal, but this is the only way I know how to keep you away from those filthy humans especially Nora. "
Kas hissed angrily when Vecna mentioned Nora.
" she's gonna come for me. Once she does I'm going to kill you. " Kas says
Vecna chuckles " you have so much faith in someone who left you to die."
Kas's face turn to confusion, " what are you talking about?"
Vecna realized what he had almost done, " nothing keep quiet. " he says as he used his powers to bound Kas's lips with a vine. Suddenly Vecna disappears and Kas is left alone in the upside down bound to a chair with nothing but the sounds of lighting and monstrous creatures.

The next day the gang met with El at hoppers cabin.
" I have a plan, it's going to take a lot of work and alot of time. But I know it's going to save Kas and Steve from Vecna." El announced to the group.
" so what's the plan?" Mike asked
" Nanc?" El says as she turns to Nancy.
She placed a blueprint of the upside down on the table along with another blue print of the town of Hawkins.
" Okay, there's 3 portals that are still opened, the one in the forest, the one in Eddie's trailer and the one at the victor kreel house, we can use one of the these to enter the upside down, once were down there we need someone to distract Vecna while El closes two of them leaving one open, after she closes them she'll give the signal the person distracting Vecna will lure him out of his lair giving us time to sneak in and save Kas and maybe end this thing once and for all."
"I'll do it" Steve says " I'll distract Vecna."
" me too I'll help him." Dustin says
" Now obviously the weapons we used the 1st time didn't work so we might a little bit of an upgrade. "
Nancy says
" I'll go." Nora says
" are you sure you know what your looking for Nora?" Lucas asked
" anything and everything that will cause as much pain and damage as possible. I wanna hear his screams as I slowly kill him." Nora says in a catatonic state.
Everyone stares at Nora for moment shocked at what just came out of her mouth " okay let's do it. We will meet back here by morning." Nancy says
