The next day
Layla had just finished eating breakfast when Asher approached her. She was wearing black cargo pants, a red t-shirt and a black jacket.
Asher: Are you sure you don't want me to drop you off?
They then heard a knock at the door.
Layla: I'm sure. I don't want you to be late. Besides, Jason is already here and I can't just tell him to leave.
Asher: But I can.
Layla rolled her eyes and kissed his cheek. Asher then looked at her neck.
Asher: You're wearing makeup?
Layla: Y-yeah. I used some of Jasmine's makeup to cover up the hickey. Is it that obvious?
Asher: No, you hid it well. But you could always take it off so he knows to back off.
Layla: Asher.
Asher: I'm kidding.
She laughed and opened the door.
Jason: Hey Lia!
Layla: Hey Jase!
They hugged each other.
Jason: Hi Asher.
Asher: Hello Jason. I should get going, see you later Princess.
Asher gave her a quick kiss on her lips before walking past them.
Jason: Why does he seem upset?
Layla: No, don't worry about him.
Jason: Okay. And I'm happy you guys are together! You're perfect for each other. And I hate that.
Layla: Thanks.
They went to his car but just before they got in, Layla's phone rang. She answered and put the phone to her ear.
Leo: Hello Layla!
Layla: Hey Dad! I'm on my way now.
Leo: That's not why I'm calling. I'm so sorry but something important came up and I can't reschedule. I'm so sorry that I'm cancelling last minute.
Layla: Dad, it's okay. What's this important thing? I could come help you if you need it?
Leo: Thank you but I can manage myself. Again, I'm sorry for cancelling last minute. How about we hang out this evening? There's a movie showing and I think you'd really like it.
Layla: Is it ?
Leo: Yes. Is that okay?
Layla: It's perfect! I've been wanting to see it anyway. I'll ask Mr Andrews to drop me off.
Leo: Okay then. I'll see you at 6pm. Bye, I love you.
Layla: Bye Dad.
The call ended and she smiled.
Jason: Is everything okay?
Layla: Yeah, but it turns out my dad is busy. Sorry.
Jason: No worries. Why don't we do some ice-skating?
Layla: Sounds fun.
They got into the car and Jason drove them to the ice rink. When they got there, they paid and went to get their skates. Soon, they put on their skates and began walking to the ice rink. Jason helped Layla onto the ice. There were some other people there but it wasn't very busy.
Layla: I think I've forgotten how to ice skate.
Jason: I'll help you. Just don't look down and don't panic.
Layla: Easier said than done but okay.
Layla started skating slowly as Jason stayed by her side.
Jason: You're getting it!
Layla: Yeah!
They picked up the pace and skated around the ring together. All of a sudden, Layla lost her balance and fell.
Layla: Ow!
Jason skated back to her to help, but another guy had helped her up.
Guy: You look familiar.
Layla: Are you sure?
Guy: Yeah. I feel like I've seen you around school. My name's Theo.
Layla: Theo? Oh, you're Asher's friend!
Theo: Oh, Layla. Sorry, I haven't seen you in a while so it didn't click immediately.
Layla: I don't blame you. I didn't even recognise you, you look different. You dyed your hair?
Theo: Yeah. You don't seem to have changed much, except you've grown taller.
Layla: Thanks I guess.
Theo: Anyway, are you okay? You fell pretty hard.
Layla: Uh, yeah. Thanks for helping me up.
Theo: No problem.
