After a long day of schoolwork, you headed back to the ramshackle dorm, alongisde Grim. It was already very late, almost midnight, all because headmage Crowley decided to be oh so generous and give you more extra work and have you run some essays to help Night Raven College.

"Don't ya think Crowley is a pain in the ass? He's always givin' us a bunch of tasks to do, while he just relaxes in his office!" Grim grumbled, moodier than usual, since he was tired.
"Well, it's true that it's unpleasant. But remember, we can only stay here because of him. No magic, remember?" You gestured with your hand and pointed at yourself repeatedly.
"That's on ya, human!" He snapped back. "I will be the greatest mage of all time, so just stand and watch! Even if you don't make it, I will."
You scoffed. "Gosh, what's gotten into you, Grim? Oh, I know! Poor kitten, is it because it's past your bedtime? Aww there, kitty!" You tried to pat his head, but he dodged and flew a little farther from you.
"Shut up! I'm not a cat!"

"Humans truly are interesting creatures."
A voice coming from behind startled the both of you and you jumped in surprise. You turned around to find Lilia facing you upside down.
"My God, Lilia! You scared me."
He chuckled, a slight hint of enjoyment in it. "My apologies, I didn't mean to frighten you. I just couldn't help overhearing your little bickering." He quickly came back to the ground and stood normally.
"Great, another weirdo!" Grim rolled his eyes. "Anyways, we're here! So I'm going inside, human. I'm tired and need sleep!" He said as grumpy as ever and headed to his room without another word.
You rubbed your neck awkwardly as you stood in front of Lilia. He might be small and cute, but there was something unsettling and mysterious about him, not to mention he was a Diasomnia student. You cleared your throat.
"Sorry about that, Lilia, Grim is always like this." You smiled. "But I think I'll be joining him, since it's pretty late. I'll see you tomorrow!"

As you took a step towards the front gate, Lilia grabbed your hand gently, but firmly. You looked at him in confusion.
"Wait. I need your help, prefect."
"With what? What happened?"
He sighed. "You see, Malleus is the prince of the Briar Valley. Besides me, it's also Silver's and Sebek's duty to watch over him and make sure he's always safe. I tend to be more liberal and let him wander around from time to time, but it's been a while and he hasn't come back yet. I cannot find him anywhere. Would you help me with that?"
You blinked a few times and hesitated. "Well... What about Silver and Sebek then? Why don't they do that since it's their job?"
"They are occupied with other tasks right now."
"Right now? But..."
"You're my last hope, prefect!" He dramatically took both of your hands in his. "If you call for Malleus, he will be sure to run to your arms!"
"What?! What are you talking about?" You asked embarrassed. "I mean, it's true that we're friends, but I wouldn't say..."
"He took a special liking to you. Please, I don't know who else to turn to!" He held your hands even tighter and came closer, making you nervous and agitated.
"Alright, alright! I'll help." You finally gave in.
"Thank you! This way."

He led you to the forest's entrance, a little too calm and suspicious in your opinion.
"Why in the forest?" You asked. "Haven't you looked here already?"
"Oh, of course, but the forest is so big. Don't worry, I'll go in with you. Nothing bad will happen!" He smiled cheerfully and for a second, you almost believed him. Why was Lilia acting so shady?
The two of you walked side by side in silence for a few minutes. Suddenly, he gasped and wore an almost theatrical shocked expression.
"I know! I know two places I haven't looked yet. The lake and near the Great Seven statues. You stay here and I'll go there. You're already near the lake! Just take a few more steps ahead and you'll be there. See you!"
Without having time to answer, Lilia flew away incredibly fast, leaving you all alone in that dark forest. You groaned and decided to follow his instructions.
