Appearance: Rio has green feathers with hints of grey. The feathers on his head are slicked in the front like Woody, his feet are orange, and his tail is long with black tips. He wears an oversized black hoodie and white gloves.

Personality: Rio is like Woody, always down for a good prank and loves to hear a good joke. Although, he can be serious and rude like Tommy and doesn't give much respect to adults, saying they always ruin the fun. Despite his small size, Rio will do whatever it takes to protect his friends and boyfriend, even if it means he has to get physical.

Backstory: Rio was born to a family of 8 kids. He was the youngest of his siblings and often picked on by his siblings for his love of music. He would always talk about wanting to be a singer when he grows up, only to be mocked by his siblings.

When it was time for him to leave the nest, Rio was almost caught by bird poachers, but was able to escape and landed himself in an exotic pet store. Tommy was 8 when he and his mother walked into the store, looking for a pet for Tommy.

Rio and Tommy connected instantly and Tommy knew he was the right pet for him. Rio and Tommy became the bestest of friends and bonded mainly over their shared love of music.

After Tommy's parents divorced, Tommy became more antisocial and less enthusiastic. Rio noticed the change in his best friend and ultimately, it rubbed off on him. He became more rude to Tommy's mother, almost causing her to give Rio away.

However, Tommy saved him, saying he'll teach Rio some manners. He never did since he was impressed by Rio's rude remarks and comments. One day, on a trip to Pennsylvania, Rio met Woody. It was love at first sight.

The two spent the whole week talking to each other, getting to know each other. Eventually, Rio had to leave, but before he did, the two decided to exchange addresses, so they could send each other letters.

Over the course of the next few years, the two woodpeckers sent each other letters every day, hoping that one day they could see each other again. Now, they may get the chance when Tommy's mother has to go visit her sick father in Philadelphia and needs Tommy's father to watch over the two.
