I never really saw myself as a prize...well at least i used to when my boyfriend ron would tell me all the time That was before he used to beat me all the time me and my mom never held a real conversation after that incident. I've built up so much hate inside that everytime a guy comes my way i build up a wall my mom calls it an attitude to push people away she says i can't always do that but what does she know!? My dad left her when she was pregnant with me we're barely making it with the rent on the house this month but lord knows how she does it.

I laced up my timbs as i flipped my black straight long natural hair over my shoulder i sighed as I overheard my momma begging the landlord for an Extra 6 months to pay up the rest of the money.

If my father was here im pretty sure we wouldn't be struggling Cameron knocked me out of my thoughts as he barged into my room.

"You want a ride?." He asked.

"Did i ask you for a ride." I spat back.

"I swear you always actin like a bitch anyways you comin or not?." He asked.

"Lemme guess another day of your annoying ass friend tryna holla at me!?..no thank you I'll walk." I said as i grabbed my iphone and my black backpack slinging it over my shoulder.

I brushed past him with my elbow as i walked downstairs towards the front door.

"Where do you think your going India?." Momma asked.

"Well...Where else do i go everyday...school duh." I said as i chewed my gum.

"You gotta get a job girl your brothers got one i got 2 and we still barely made it for rent this month first thing after school i want you to go to the mall and ask around you hear me?." She asked.

"Yes mother whateva you say." I said.

"Cut the attitude before i cut you now run along go to school." She said.

I sent her a fake smile and walked out the front door i looked to see Cameron and his friends walking.

I guess he didn't want to drive today as my timbs hit the pavement my girl shelly walked up on the side of me.

"Hey girl." She said.

"Hey shelly." I said as i sighed.

"Unh...unh...girl quit all that sighing I heard there's this new lightskin brotha with the golds startin at the school today i heard he from new orleans and got a sexy ass accent too." She said to me.

"Shelly what does this have to do with me?." I asked.

"Girl you bad asf and still ain't got no man you betta get with that cause someone need to straighten yo rude,stingy ass out." She said.

"Shelly ion need a man it's just not me it's not what i need plus there's plenty of other girls he could have." I said.

Our Convo was interupted by her fake ass friends walking up by us i rolled my eyes as i sped up.

I looked to see an open spot next to Cameron and his crew on the sidewalk so i walked up near them.

"So india when yo fine ass gone let me take you out?." Chris asked.

"When you get a car or something that can actually move." I said as i popped my gum.
